Based on what though? Luai was picked ahead of him for a reason, and that’s because he is a better 6 and a better combination with Nathan. Both are running 6's Burton is just better

Skill, age, athletic abilityBased on what though? Luai was picked ahead of him for a reason, and that’s because he is a better 6 and a better combination with Nathan.
Salmon is a below average five eight in NSW cup, so there is no way you start him at 7 in an NRL game.We wouldn't have this issue if Falls or Salmon played instead of May during Origin
Well he is younger, I will concede that.Skill, age, athletic ability

And if we had played Falls, the payments to him being outside the top 30 would of meant we wouldnt have had the $120k cap space left to sign TPJ.
Without TPJ we don’t get past the Eels, and so don’t win the premiership.
So playing May in the halves didn’t work out too badly all things considered
No, it buys time for players like Kurt Falls to get some footy under his belt.
Luai and May in the halves for the first month or so won’t kill us.
I really thought the same for the Parra game after origin where Nathan was out but he was super disappointing. I truly hope he proves me wrong
It was also in the days before we play with our current halfback controls the middle and the FB/five eight sit on the edges structure. It's different play halfback with it versus without it. I'd say we should just ditch it whenever Cleary isn't in the team because it's a style built for Cleary but Ivan's determined to keep it and has our reserve grade play like that.Hes had good games at 7 before for us. Scored 3 great tries against the warriors 3 years ago i think it as and was halfback that night.
He is best when he plays his own style but ivan didnt want to change the team structure for luai in 7. In he wanted luai just to stick to the structure which didnt suit him.
You're allowed to play dev players after a certain point in the season like round 12.Salmon is a below average five eight in NSW cup, so there is no way you start him at 7 in an NRL game.

If Burton kicked on he's going to be more in demand and cost more to keep than Luai because of his long kicking game, which with Cleary we don't need. If he reached his potential, which would be a season or 2 away, we'd lose him, can't pay 2 halves a million each.

Didn’t we win that game? Versus a team that was top 6 side?I really thought the same for the Parra game after origin where Nathan was out but he was super disappointing. I truly hope he proves me wrong
Falls will likely play 7 during origin period in 2022 - May will play 7 at start of the year if Nathan isnt fit.
Falls knows this and should try and have his best ever pre-season to change the coaches mind.
Burton's kicking game and his speed is superior to Luai - 2022 will be a big reality check for Burton, whilst that Dogs team looks better on paper than recent years - they are all coming together for the first time against a team that has made back to back grand finals.
Burton wont have the time & space that he's had at Penrith, its going to show early on in the season for him
The Dogs also have a crap coach. Interesting to see how long Barrett last at the Dogs...Falls will likely play 7 during origin period in 2022 - May will play 7 at start of the year if Nathan isnt fit.

Yes he's just better. Not to say Luai isn't a good player
As long as he doesn't turn up to work "Looking Tired", Gus will pounce. The Dogs also have a crap coach. Interesting to see how long Barrett last at the Dogs...
Barret will be expected to at least make the 8 next year and with players bought that should happen if not goneThe Dogs also have a crap coach. Interesting to see how long Barrett last at the Dogs...
