Robbo is an overrated coach. Bloke has been gifted stacked rosters and basically guaranteed to fill the 17 with rep players. Any coach could look great with that setup.

I think a 3-peat with a side built mostly on developed players and all the losses in the roster puts Cleary comfortably ahead of Robinson now.

Robinson back to back came from adding international and Origin fullback and halfback to his spine. Cronk did that. Since Cronk retired he hasn’t gone close to a premiership.

interesting Hypothetical question

1. does Ivan get the best out of Schuster?

2. if he does - does that put up there with Bellamy and Robinson in coaching ability (personally Robbo is being made out to be highly overrated)

Yes because we have a simple gameplan

This. He wants them fit and doing a job. Give him an off season and he'd be a different player. Remember garner going from spoon to premiership winner.
Not a great comparison because Garner was always a game fit player and tried his best at Tigers even during their terrible run.

Sure but no one really rated him. There's so many examples of Ivan getting the best out of players you just have to choose. He's a man manager first.

Best examples are actually Sorro and Capewell. Both were basically reserve graders - or fringe 1st graders. Both ended up rep players.

Another good example is Paul Momirovski.

Other 'reverse examples' (those who were 'internal' who went outside the club) are Naden and SOS. Played well with us and looked the goods as true 1st graders but have basically regressed to fringe first graders again.

Talking about regression - Momo fell off the map, and Capewell will likely never play rep football again.

Momo wasn’t that good for us though either. The amount of opportunities he killed would make Tedesco blush.

Ivan crowning moment has to be Luke Brooks winning Dally M halfback of the year though. Ivan can get the best out of playmakers. Not just established ones. Playmakers of all types and levels of skill.

Maloney and Johnson at Warriors.
Soward and Wallace in his first stint with us.
Brooks at Tigers.
Nathan is now the best half in the game.

Weve had fringe first graders come in and do a job without him. Jack Cogger, Sean O’Sullivan and now Brad Schneider. Dude can get the best out of most halves.

Maloney and Johnson were both freaks, Ivan cant claim those, but he did give them a start they probably wouldnt have got
