Controversial footballer Taylan May has spent the night in police custody and will today face court, after allegedly breaching an AVO over the weekend.

May, 23, is set to face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday charged with one count of contravening an apprehended domestic violence order.
That AVO was taken out against May earlier this year, following an incident in which it is alleged he punched his wife in the face and then stalked her.
May has pleaded not guilty to three domestic violence-related charges — one count of assault and two counts of stalking and intimidating.
But May landed himself back in police custody on Saturday afternoon, when officers were called to a home in Emerton, in Sydney’s west, where they allegedly found him in breach of his ADVO.

At the same time his former Penrith Panthers teammates were suffering a shock 22-18 loss to the Canberra Raiders, he was being taken to Penrith Police Station where he was later charged.
In a statement, NSW Police said: “About 2.50pm (Saturday 24 August 2024), officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were called to a mall on Jersey Road, Emerton, after reports of a man allegedly breaching an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO)”.
“The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).
“He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today.”

May’s original alleged domestic violence incident led to the end of his time with the Penrith Panthers, where he had played 30 games since 2021 including several alongside his brother Tyrone.
Since leaving the Panthers to seek “other opportunities”, May has been in football exile and is currently suspended from playing in the NRL due to the league’s no fault stand down policy.
May was in the headlines recently after a planned appearance on the Let’s Trot podcast - featuring former NRL star Josh Mansour - led to widespread backlash against the show.
