Controversial footballer Taylan May has spent the night in police custody and will today face court, after allegedly breaching an AVO over the weekend.
May, 23, is set to face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday charged with one count of contravening an apprehended domestic violence order.
That AVO was taken out against May earlier this year, following an incident in which it is alleged he punched his wife in the face and then stalked her.
May has pleaded not guilty to three domestic violence-related charges — one count of assault and two counts of stalking and intimidating.
But May landed himself back in police custody on Saturday afternoon, when officers were called to a home in Emerton, in Sydney’s west, where they allegedly found him in breach of his ADVO.

At the same time his former Penrith Panthers teammates were suffering a shock 22-18 loss to the Canberra Raiders, he was being taken to Penrith Police Station where he was later charged.
In a statement, NSW Police said: “About 2.50pm (Saturday 24 August 2024), officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were called to a mall on Jersey Road, Emerton, after reports of a man allegedly breaching an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO)”.
“The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).
“He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today.”
May’s original alleged domestic violence incident led to the end of his time with the Penrith Panthers, where he had played 30 games since 2021 including several alongside his brother Tyrone.
Since leaving the Panthers to seek “other opportunities”, May has been in football exile and is currently suspended from playing in the NRL due to the league’s no fault stand down policy.
May was in the headlines recently after a planned appearance on the Let’s Trot podcast - featuring former NRL star Josh Mansour - led to widespread backlash against the show.

FYISure but Rugby League speed is the most important type of speed in the sport. That's how fast you can get in about 8 metres before the line. That acceleration is what really matters in the sport. A Panthers player makes a break but doesn't have the pace to beat the fullback. No one gives a shit, either there's someone in support or they get a quick play the ball and Penrith are happy to play on the front foot with the momentum that patient attack is the style that's got Penrith 3 premierships.
FYI
It’s official … the fastest man in rugby league is Manly Sea Eagles flyer Jason Saab.
The verdict comes from the official Telstra Tracker data and GPS technology from the devices players wear in a sealed pocket on the back of their jerseys.
Dolphins fullback excitement machine Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Panthers centre Paul Alamoti were the next quickest.
Saab has been clocked this year at 37.8 km/h – faster than Cronulla Sharks winger Ronaldo Mulitalo, who was quickest in the game last year at 37.18 km/h.

The new speed figures have been released as the NRL continues to plan for a sprint race at Accor Stadium on grand final day.
All clubs not involved in the grand final will be invited to nominate a starter.
Players would receive an appearance fee and a cash prize for winning the event.
Judging by the way Manly played at Leichhardt Oval against the Wests Tigers on Friday night, Saab will be available for the dash for cash.
The fastest man in the game had an unhappy night on Manly’s right wing, spilling the football on a couple of crucial occasions. In fairness, the lead-up passes were not great.
Saab was asked last week about the sprint race.
“If you ask around you’ll get a common answer,” he said.
“If a race happens, I’ll let the legs do the talking.

Roosters star Dominic Young and Titans winger Alofiana Khan Pereira came in fourth and fifth.
Bulldogs winger and renowned speed man Josh Addo Carr, who was rounded up and bundled into touch by ‘The Hammer’ in Bundaberg last week, has scraped into the list in 10th spot.
It’s interesting that minor premiers Melbourne Storm don’t have a top 10 starter.
They have all the skills and power – plus three great wingers in Will Warbrick, Zavier Coates and Grant Anderson – but not the explosive speed of some of their rivals.

Alomotti was more of a project than Blaize and they got him Panther fit in one off season.
kid is having a laugh if he thinks he's walking into this side - he needs development time in Cup and work on his defence and mindset before FG with Penrith
Well I hope they paint legs on said tackling bag, because he is certainly a jumper grabber...Ivan: So Blaize this is a tackling bag
Blaize: A what?
Yeah plus Wahs have plenty of coinwould be interested if offered up
wouldnt surprise me if he went to the Wahs - he seemed to get on really well with Fish in Kiwi camp last season?
