Good luck to CT.....could never fault his effort. Surely that frees up enough cash to have a proper crack at Fonua -Blake. Can build a pack around him.
Liam Ison will be a good player but needs a few more kegs on, was behind in the pecking order at the riff.Ison, Puru, Bradbury and Gabrael were all identified as high potential players. We haven't been active in this space for years. We have relied on the jnr base or journeymen who needed a shot (Toby, Sifa, Hunt etc). That excites me way more than a Lachlan Miller or CT especially due to us having really good kids already in the system(Stonestreet, Dykes etc) .
Now if we can develop 1, 2 of them and land a big fish. You can see the plan now for the retention and recruitment which is huge in this dysfunctional player market. Look at Gus over at the dogs for example or Flanno at the dragons.
Here he is behind Kennedy, Dykes, Atkinson and Hiroti at a minimum. That isn't the point. The point is the club has been active in picking out high end 18-20 year olds and putting them on development deals instead of just putting our eggs on the jnr base like Taukamo and Stonestreet for example. I wouldn't expect to see Ison in the NRL next year but getting a talented player, developing him(plus others) shows the club has some sort of strategy for the player market compared to the wtf are they doing approach of others.Liam Ison will be a good player but needs a few more kegs on, was behind in the pecking order at the riff.

If one or two of the few I mentioned develop like Talakai, Rudolf, Hunt etc and become an NRL player it allows you to go try buy a big name like AFB. Most of them don't end up kicking on but you only need 1-2 a year on top of a decent squad.
You can't go out and buy a roster like the Panthers who look like they will be at the top for many years to come. You have to try and develop and add young talent to your roster to create space to land a big fish. Coaching and development for us is key now.
Be interesting if SEN is around for the 2024 seasonAnyone else hear the rumours on SEN about dearden to Cronulla?
Anyone else hear the rumours on SEN about dearden to Cronulla?
Nope. Who was spreading the rumour? Brandy and Vossy? Joel and Fletch? Other?
Was it a phantom caller, possibly Peter Tunks in disguise, trying to claw back some listeners to 2SMNope. Who was spreading the rumour? Brandy and Vossy? Joel and Fletch? Other?
Deardon is going out with/engaged to my wife's cousin. I'll get her on to it.....Anyone else hear the rumours on SEN about dearden to Cronulla?
I always thought it was front ended and dropped this year and more next. Some dude on FB saying that Finucane's contract was front ended, freeing up about 350k in the cap this year. Any merit to this?
