Rumoured player movements

I think the last two posts are valid, but its more a point of our current players not being able to lift to the standard the new players from better clubs/packs bring....lets face it everyone has to improve, lift, raise the bar on the last few seasons...significantly.

Never rated McQueen. We've got enough undersized wide running backrowers who tend to go missing. Plus the fact that he's played Origin just means we'd be paying massive overs for him.

Bodene Thompson > McQueen.

I think you are totally right with this comment ink.

While I gave Blair as an example, it wasn't done to put the boot into him. When he first got signed I was wrapped, I thought he'd be a world beater and really lift us. At certain points I actually felt sorry for Blair. He came from a team/pack where everyone had their roles and they stuck to them. Sheens on the other hand was very laissez faire with this and it reflected in our style of play.

If McQueen does come to us I hope he can bring some of the Souths attitude to our play. I feel Sheens was too proud to let Blair try and bring some of Bellamy's styles to us when he was signed.

I could be full of shit too....I just want a couple of good second rowers that will run hard and tackle harder!!!!

Well Ellis can be the exception to the rule.

If we can get one player that can tackle and hold a defensive structure as good as Ellis, and nothing else, it will be a great signing.

We have plenty of good attacking forwards. Woods, Taupau, Blair, Sue, Seumanufagai, Akoula, Lodge and even Sironen.

But defensively, only Woods out of that lot can be suggested as being a top quality defender.

I'm not just talking about effective tackles either, but holding the defensive structure in the middle and towards the ruck edges.

With possibly the weakest defensive halves combination in the comp next year, we need our props and back rowers to be very good at covering their left and right sides and being competent cover defenders so as to help out the halves.

This is something that Thompson and Sironen were not very good at this past season and why we failed to have any defensive strength in the middle, which forced Farah to make more tackles and in turn, do less dummy half running, which is what most of our momentum runs off the back of.

"thoughts" hear Kris Keating is back in Aus , Bulldogs and SL recently , would he be a good signing as back up 7,6,9 ??? defensively better than Brooks & Moses. At the right price......

Keating, just no.

Politoni is off contract, buy him. He can play halfback and hooker.

Would have preferred keating to drinkwater, I imagine there's a large difference in their asking price though. Either way they're both strictly back up players

Blair has been the best by a long shot...he's been terrific. Woods has been ok but still doesn't give his all..Simona i can't work out but was glad to see him score his try today

I just dont get players who get a lucky break and not make the most of it. Yeah Blair has been good I must admit.

Srama has been told to look elsewhere by the Titans. He'd make a great back-up for Robbie. Not sure he'd want that role but I can't think of too many clubs where he'd be walking straight into the hooking role. Maybe the Raiders, but they've just bought that Pommy bloke.

I don't know what his current contract is but I'd be looking at the Samoan hooker (Godinet?). He has plenty of go in him....might be signed somewhere else but he is full of beans.

There has been a few players I thought went alright. Both centres for England and the reserve prop (Hill I think his name is) have shown pretty good skills. Don't know if they'd like a run in the NRL.
