SBW could run into a gap from day 1. In fact he ran into plenty of gaps in our defence on his debut!
Agreed, but SBW finds it hard doing that now as he gets a crowd of defenders almost all game. However, he still can easily get a pass away at or through the line and this alone makes him a world class player. Loko has that similar height and physical power advantage SBW possesses so I reckon it will be important to intensively help Loko develop his left and right side passing, swerving and off-loading maneuvers learning to use his height and long-reach advantages at or through the line and even when he manages to get around a defender through the first line of defense, then we need two or three Brett Hodgson/Terry Lamb type players following Loko whenever he gets the ball.
This is where Loko will be better utilized than just being wasted as a battering ram. Loko will frequently cause a staggered retreating defensive line so his fast play the balls are critical as they open up many many attacking options and or generate penalties.
I'm confident in saying that Loko will be more important in the advancing stages of our attacking formations than Jarryd Hayne, William Hopoate, Chris Sandow, Ryan Morgan or Corey Norman. With offloads assured at least 40% of the time and or more holes opening up in the retreating defensive lines, we'll be experiencing a smorgasbord of attacking penetration from Jarryd, William, Chris, Corey, Ryan and particularly from Fui Fui, Hock, Tangerine-Dream & Terepedo running off Loko's second phase plays with full velocity.
And we've still got a few more explosive back-rowers and backs coming through from under 20 & those under 20's playing in next years Wenty. We just need another experienced prop, two very good attacking hookers, one extra attacking/defending backrower/lock-forward and two powerful speedy wingers who can catch, then its up to the determination of this squad if they want to crack a 2014 grand final because we'll have the arsenal to achieve it. Only issue will be our depth.
