You'd think if there's ever a time for Matt Keating to be off contract it's now. There are actually clubs interested in him and not much competition in the market, however much Eels fans overrate opposition hookers.

Yeh. I don't disagree. My post was just a response to the general proposition about accepting shorter term contracts. Wouldn't surprise me if he looks a lot better player at another club.

That looks like a pretty tidy mind, Casper.

Heard this AM that Tahs have both Beale & O'Connor in their sights for 2014.

Must mean that Izzy is going to Broncos/Dogs/Raiders/Roosters.

If he ends up in the NRL, Ian Schubert should give himself a triple.

#merkin

Beale = five-eight; O'Connor = centre; Folau = fullback.

I would be looking at something like.

1. Hayne
2. Blair
3. Loko
4. Hopoate
5. Toutai
6. Norman
7. Sandow
8. Mannah
9. ?
10. Lussick
11. Tanginoa
12. Hock
13. Terepo

14. Pritchard
15. Moimoi
16. Mossop
17. Allgood

18. Maitua

I don't know where the young players like pauli, Paulo etc fit. I would like loko in the backrow but I would i would rather Terepo in the team than Sio, as I believe he offers more. If we sign a decent winger than so be it move loko.

You would leave Ryan Morgan out of the side?

My backline would be:

1. Hayne
2. Loko
3. Morgan
4. Hoppoate
5. Toutai / Sio
6. Norman
7. Sandow

Assuming the learning experience gathered from this year is effective and powerful this is a very good backline capable of putting on around 30 points a game. Now if only the go forward of our pack and control of the ruck can be sorted. Poo Poo, who do we need to complete our 2014 acquisition so that they let this awesome backline put on a serious threat to the points tally accumulated by our 2001 squad?

We really need at least three explosive back rowers working with 4 solid props and a lock and two mobile backrowers who can defend all over the park and two nippy hookers who can defend and an allrounder who can play in the backs or backrow.

Props
FuiFui
Allbad
Manners
Mossop

Prop/Backrower

Lussick

Explosive Backrowers
Tangerene Dream (Tanginoa)
Torpedo (Terepo)
C**k

Loko (as a back up)

Defending Backrowers
Keating
?

Sex Workers
? (new acquisition)
14. Pritchard

We have one week to do any more signings for this season or cut loose more deadwood. I'd say Ben Smith, Matt Ryan, Roberts, Keating, Blair and a host of Wenty players have either been tapped on the shoulder or told that they are free to negotiate elsewhere despite being under contract.

I know it is Round 13 for players to back out of deals, but isnt it still 30 June for mid season transfers?

Two year deals. And only after we couldn't get anyone else at a decent price.

And while Roberts never found his best form, and likely never will, I don't think any off contract hooker is as good as Matt Keating.

I would have gone for Rein but Sticky and Nolan obviously think they can get some value out of Pritchard. And spending too much on another hooker would force us to play him more (to get a return on investment) which would limit Pritchard's game time.

That said, I would offer Keating one year, but with other clubs interested why would he sign for only one year?

Which are these other clubs interested in Keating?
