Had an interesting chat today. I hear we are enquiring about Tyrone Peachey (nephew of David Peachey). Penrith are also interested. Anyone seen him play?

Quality young player. He favours the backrow but can also play 5/8 and in a pinch, he can fill out in the centres. He possesses lovely footwork and he is bit like Hayne in the sense that he is simply a very good footballer.

He has spent 2013 carving up the NSW Cup and recently got called up to firsts for Cronulla where he has looked pretty good. He would be a fantastic pick up IMO.

Yeah, he was one of the last of the true 'footballers'. Plenty of smarts about him. He always looked like he was playing the game in slow motion.

The guy could literally stop dead in his tracks and the opposition would just freeze, standing there like scared little kids. I actually think his Canberra/Nth Qld days were better than the time he was with us. Very disappointed that we didn't hold on to him for longer.

I was crushed when he left. Great footy player.

Whoever signs him will be paying big big money for him, and it appears penrith are the only club willing to go overs

I think realistically he had alot to do with the development of both Carney and Thurston also. Great player, one of my alltime favourites.

If Penrith are the only club willing to pay overs - why are they paying overs? Takes two clubs bidding for a player to push up his price. Sounds like Penrith are just desperate to sign anyone.

Yep should have kept either him or Jim for 2001. Couldn't never believe smith let them both go. J Smith being suspended most likely cost us a grand final berth in 2000 only lost by six to the broncos and smith would have been the difference. In the 2001 gf gee it would have been nice to have smith to confront the johns machine.

Because he's also tossing up to stay with the sharks and trying to get them to throw more $ at him...I'm surprised he hadn't signed with penrith 2 weeks ago, there could be another club out there in the mix...

And yes, we've spoken to him.

Looking at his skills, Penrith might be intending to use him in the halves (and so can afford to pay him more). Then again, the Sharks could use him in the halves too.

Either way, we have our halves sorted for 2014, and we also have three NRL quality (and price) edge forwards we're going to have to try to fit into the 17. Then again, Tanginoa is very young so we certainly have him on the cheap until 2015.
