He's a 28 year old first grader with 130+ NRL games and no history of injury. Would start in our side for sure.

He's played at least 23 games every year since 2008, except for 2010 when he sat out the year fighting charges of supplying narcotics (of which he was cleared).

He's about as good as Ben Smith, except he's reliable.
Depends on the money he is after, handy first grader but we don't want to pay overs for handy first graders. Thats what got us in this mess in the first place.

Isn't Houston a prop/lock? I reckon we have enough players that can play in the middle unless we are releasing some others.

Houston goes alright

Yeah but the handy first graders we had signed are the Matt Ryan, Harrison , Paulo , type players - Houston is a bit of an upgrade on these. He was even a fringe origin player and may even have had a nsw jumper if he did become friends with wicks

Plays on the edge too. I'd say he prefers to play wide.

Well then he would be a pretty decent pick up - he may not be the most explosive player but at the moment the side is lacking experienced edge forwards that are half decent defenders - Houston is pretty strong defensively.

We have plenty of inexperience edge forwards thus we could with someone like Houston

would be an awesome pickup imo, the ben smith comparison brought up is a good one...just without dodgy knees and can actually run through someone for decent meters

Spot on CJ. He rarely puts in a bad performance and has saved the Knights arse defensively out there as a defensive sweeper more times than I can count. And he offers at least double what BS does in attack.

2 line breaks in 24 games. He isn't getting through too many people, even if he did average 87m per game last year (twice that of Ben Smith).

If you are comparing Smith with Houston, Houston is the better player. Solid, reliable and rarely injured. That said, I think Daniel Harrison can fill that exact position for the Eels, leaving spots in the squad for some more dynamic back rowers.

Houston would be a great pick up. Averages roughly 35 tackles and 100metres a game as a starter. Mustn't be old enough for the Knights. 28 years old and was captain of the Knights when Gifley was injured at times. Versatile player. Would be a massive upgrade on Matt Ryan and Ben Smith.

From about mid year Houston was used in the middle. That would lower his game breaking stats (LBs, LBAs, tries and stuff).

80-90 meters average per game is bloody good for a non marquee backrower. you'd be happy if your best backrower averaged 100-120 meters per game.

daniel harrison COULD fill that role, but he's demonstrated so far that he can't. if you can pay similar $ for someone who can, that's a no brainer. remember harrison wasn't cheap, and if he isn't up to it, get rid of him

Unfortunately , Harrison is average but his salary isn't, so difficult to shift. Not his fault so until someone steps up or his contract expires, he is on the books

Pity , as Houston would be an upgrade, he was really highly regarded by Brian Smith as a leader
