Our edge back rowers have a ton of potential, lets hope they are ready to step up and play some good football.

i even think a fit and firing ben smith would be a great thing for this footy team.

Considering how poor 2013 was I would just be happy if our edge forwards defend strongly anything else is a bonus.

But yeah there is plenty of potential, I hope loko returns and has an injury free year. He could really give us some "x factor" in the backrow which we haven't had for a while.

Smith and Loko are a better combo. They can console each other after they both suffer another season ending injury.

hahaha

as great as elder hoppa, peats, mossop etc are going to be, if we wanna see successful guys like Tonga, Smith, Loko, Hayne, Sandow need to play 20+ games next season.

Will make it hard to squeeze Sef Paulo, Matty Ryan, Benny Smith & Dan Harrison all into the side if we are carrying 6 props, so it doesn't seem like a good plan to me.

That's why it comes down to picking our best 17 and worrying about the numbers on their backs later.

Here are our tight forwards contracted for next year:
Allgood
Alvaro
Harrison
Lussick
Mannah
Ma'afu
Moimoi
Mossop
Paulo
Paulo
Ryan
Santi
Smith
Terepo
Ualesi

That's fifteen blokes. Obviously a couple of them can also play on the edges but would be competing with specialist edge forwards such as Tanginoa, Edwards and Mau (and giant outside back Jacob Loko).

Of the fifteen, only three of them are (IMO) certainties for the top 17: Mannah, Lussick and Mossop.

Of the remaining twelve, four of them are certainties to not be in the top 17: Alvaro, Ma'afu, Santi and Ualesi.

That leaves eight who are competing for three spots in the top 17: Allgood, Harrison, Moimoi, Paulo, Paulo, Ryan, Smith, Terepo. Of these, Harrison, Ryan and Smith are also competing for an edge forward spot.

Anyway, we certainly have a lot of competition for spots, which could be seen as a good thing or a bad thing. Both teams in this week's grand final have very little competition for spots because most of their top 17 were decided in the pre-season.

 Cant wait until this happens - only to see everyone in here blowing up about how many dumb penalties he gives away.

I like the bloke - but surely the time has come to make way for the younger guys coming through....

Don't be too hard on Ualesi and Santi Pou. For mine, Ualesi is a bolter for the 13 jersey to start next season.
Great size and work ethic and good natural mover on the footy field.

I guess it's possible.

Given the law of diminishing returns, if anyone is going to experience massive development in the space of a single off season it's a young bloke with one (or zero) games experience.

So we dont have a solid option for 13.Santi, terepo or Smith.
What about nathan smith from penrith? He would be a cheap solid option
