Penrith don't need to break their cap to keep Luai. They already retained their core players.

Luai is worth whatever he can get, there is a limit as to what he is worth to us under the cap, but the decision on what that price is has more to do with just his abilities.

Same as most players really. Take a player than everyone likes like Brian To'o, if he went to auction and every club had to put in bid of their maximum offer there would be a 1 to 200k difference top to bottom. There isn't a club that wouldn't want him, but how bad they want him would vary.

What a tool, Luai is many things, but a liability is not one of them, if anyone knows penrith, they know his defence is top notch in comparison to any of the halves in the game, basically every other clubs weaknesses are those generals in the defensive line..we have the luxury of not just Romy, but nathan aswell both excellent in D...
Too many numbnuts giving off opinions on players tiktok social feed, instead of actually watching the gameplay of the player itself.. 4.5 million is a steal for a ready made experienced NRL half, instantly makes the tigers a contender for finals

They have the talent in that squad, they just lack the rudder, and grit in defence, Luai can help not leak points in that regard, where their previous halves were targeted somewhat, luke brooks did have a dig that last year in defence, before he was bbq'd
