He's got a funny way of showing he doesn't wanna be here.

6 time Bronco of the year winner (nobody else at the club has done that), stayed thick through our wooden spoon days. Had plenty of opportunities to leave and he was prepared to hold the club ransom at one point there, might have been the last time his contract came up for negotiation, got boo'd out of the stadium.

Nothing he has done on the field has given off the impression he doesn't want to be here.

A bloke like Xavier Coates, he didn't want to be here.
but he doesnt want to be there now hence he didn't re-sign.. thats what the point is.

Upsetting

Payne Haas is he most f**ken Max Power name since Max Power. Hakeem Haas just doesn't have the same vibe

Oh wait people are upset because it's an Islamic name? That's stupid

I read a report quoting his manager that Hass' social media was changed 6 months ago to reflect that name change to Hakeem.

It's not the first time a sports person changed his name due to his faith. Akeem OIajuwon of the Houston Rockets in the NBA changed his name to "Hakeem" in 1991, after 7 years in the NBA.

The most well known is a boxer named Cassius Clay who changed his name after winning the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship to Muhammad Ali.

So yeah, people getting upset over Haas electing to change his name is dumb.

Are people getting upset?
I'm not upset but a clear line has been crossed imo, from Muslim to fanatic Muslim - that's not going to inspire a vote of confidence just months after fanatics shoot up Bondi beach.
Sure other people change their names but I don't think it's ever really a good thing, even when you find out your favorite actor or musician had changed their name, it's always a little cringe and disappointing.
His changed his name and turned his back on his club... that'll leave a foul taste in anyone's mouth.

Name change means little really. It shouldn't even be news.

If we are ranking names Payne is way better than Hakeem anyway. Lots you can do with it: Payne train, no pleasure without Payne, no Wayne no Payne etc.

I'd imagine those who are fans of Cat Stevens still listen to his music...

No matter what, they are still your parents. Remember, you can pick your friends but you can’t pick your family.
As the son of an ice junkie who hasn't spoken to my merkin of a mother in over 20 years Hakeem has my blessing. Even if religion is ridiculous

And I'll still watch Harkeem but it'll be a little different.
I'll enjoy watching him play while also knowing he's kind of a dick.

His Broncos team mates will all be cool with it though and supportive while secretly excited for when they don't have to share a dressing for with a fanatical Muslim.

Let's be honest, he's a dick.
Great player.. but a dick.

I get contracts having player options. But a specific option to release a player to go to R360 if it gets off the ground flies in the face of all the tough talking that PVL did of banning players even talking to R360.
I doubt it specifically mentions R360. Probably says something like "other opportunities".

The bolded one was a correction in spelling rather than a name change.

The worst name change ever had to be Ron Artest who changed his name legally to Metta World Peace lol

Black Panther seems to be. Just look a few posts up from your post in this thread.

Your comment says more about you than it does about him.

Yeah look that's a completely normal, totally not over the top or unhinged take on someone changing the made up word people refer to him by (which is common for religious converts in many religions)
