It's made up to suit an agenda. Fact is, if Wallace wanted to come here, he would be here next year. He came for the tour, had an offer on the table, but decided to stay where he is instead. Definitely not a man who wanted to come here

Sorry Wanted was the wrong word to use, I meant that Wallace was willing to come here for less money than what the titans were offering (based on Barry Toohey’s info) but we didn’t give him the right length of deal.

I'm with Fred on this one. I think Wallace was interested but played the game well to get what he really wanted - another year from Titans. Family had a lot to do with the decision. He was never super keen to leave the GC and leave his kids.

Im ok with the club not budging on the 3 year deal. Wallace is a good player but giving players long term deals just to come here isnt a smart play, its burnt us before. You could argue he was trying to secure his future and all that but a player that young should be looking to up his worth in shorter stints

Like Fred said, if he really wanted to come to Newcastle hed have taken the better money deal

Ponga is looking at $500,000 a year long term after 2 NRL games.
This is the sort of thing we have done in the past and have regretted it.
I'd rather regret not signing him than repeat the same deals that got us into this position.
