NRL | Moves to push out Knights hooker Danny Levi grow with club pursuing Cronulla's Jayden Brailey for next season
The push to move current hooker Danny Levi on at the end of the season is likely to gather momentum following revelations the Knights have ear-marked Cronulla's Jayden Brailey as a potential long-term replacement.
Brailey 22, is contracted to the Sharks until the end of next season but they have reluctantly given him permission to negotiate with rival clubs early after signing his younger brother Blayke, who is also a hooker, to a new three year deal back in April.
We both want to be starting No.9s and at the top of our game and to do that, we can't be in each other's shadow.

The brothers are currently sharing the hooking role at the club with Jayden starting and Blayke 20, coming off the bench. But Jayden flagged earlier this year the possibility of the pair having to split up at some stage if they are to both establish themselves as hookers in the NRL.

"We spoke about it as a family a couple of times and everyone says one of us has to go - and it's true," Jayden told the Sydney Morning Herald. "One of us has to go at some stage.
"I'm 22 and he's 20 and we're both establishing ourselves in the game. There's plenty of time up our sleeves. Whether it's next year or the year after I'm not too sure when it's going to be, but at some stage we're going to have to split obviously.

Newcastle Herald understands Knights officials have already met with Brailey and his manager Paul Sutton to discuss a potential three year deal.
The club is also negotiating with Sutton to extend the contract of Knights prop Dan Saifiti, with a new deal there in the pipeline.
The interest in Brailey will be cold comfort to Levi, whose future has been the subject of much speculation over the past 12 months.

Sidelined for up to two months after undergoing ankle surgery last week to repair a torn ligament, Levi also has another year to run at the Knights but has been told the club would not stand in his way if he was able to secure a longer term deal elsewhere.
His form over the past month leading into the Roosters' clash where he was injured early in the game had been exceptional but there is a strongly held belief within the club the Knights need more of a team player who is capable of playing 80 minutes if they are to morph into a genuine premiership contender.
"Brailey may not have that touch of brilliance out of dummy half that Danny has running the footy but his overall game management and his ability to play 80 minutes is what makes him a good option,"one Knights source said.
