The only 6 i would want at the moment outside of the club is Burton, but he has said he will see his contract out, before he moves on.

I could get on board with having Nicho Hynes at the club. I just watched this highlights video of him in the ISC:

There were multiple examples in that video where Nicho Hynes linked up with his fellow outside backs and I kept pointing out where Kurt Mann would have died with the ball. But one play in particular jumped right out at me, around the 1:59 mark. Nicho got the ball and then immediately threw a long cut-out ball on the right for his winger to score, no hesitation, no lack of ability. That tells me right there is a play maker who would be capable of unlocking our right side attack. If we had Hynes on the right, Ponga could go with his pet left-hand side play all day, we wouldn't need him on the right half as much anymore.

Surely Alex and Obi will have a look at the kid. I want this 5/8 question resolved once and for all. I thought it would have been resolved for a little while when we got Blake Green, but no we can't have nice things.

Is the the Storm lad!? He is a gun from the limited games and highlights I've seen from him. He looks big for a half as well. We actually looking at him??

Hines is a handy player but from what I've seen he's primarily a ball runner with a nice passing game as opposed to a genuine half. I mean last week storm had Munster and Hughes out and had Ryley Jacks and Cooper Johns in the halves so it'd be abit of a stretch to believe he's the answer to our 5/8th dilemma.

If Mann had as good a passing game as Hines, he would still be 5/8.

Comparison of some notable 5/8's in teams in front of us on the ladder or just below sort of tells us where we are with Mann ( or his type of 5/8 ) and where we need to be.

Luai = 37
Brown= 39

Mann - Line Breaks = 6

Cody Walker = 8

<snip>

This makes Mann seem like a Keary without the kicking game.

Just goes to show, Stats don't show the reality.

I didnt include his running mtrs,

Mann - Run mtrs = 1,177 mtrs ( 2nd in 5/8 rankings for run mtrs )

Walker = 841
Munster = 903
Wighton= 1,144
Keary = 537
Luai = 489
Brown = 1,406

The upside - He's right up there when running the ball, and can certainly score a try with the best of them.

The downside - Setting up his outside men to break the line or score and he's well down the pecking order.

Kicking of the ball is almost non existent.

Kicking - It highlights the huge pressure on Pearce to come up with something everytime. To be fair on Pearce it is a huge ask of him and something not asked of any other halfback in the top 8 at the moment.

Attack - It highlights that his style of play or inability to ball play stifles our attack.

Parra v Souths last night...

Moses - 15 of 18 kicks

Reynolds - 18 of 23 kicks

Pearce v Cowboys - 18 of 23 kicks.

The teams best kicker should kick most of the time.

Problem for us is that for some reason Mitchell Pearce is always seen as being under 'too much pressure' yet most halfbacks see this as their job.

Adam Reynolds kicked the life out of Parra last night with a huge VARIETY of quality kicks that we will never have at the club with Pearce.

The real issue is that Mitchy is not real good at it. And only costs us a million a year for that major shortcoming - just one of many.

The problem is half the time when Mann runs the ball he should have passed it instead.
Between all the time Mann doesn't give the ball and the Fitzgibbon short balls our strike players like Best and Tuala are starved of the ball in good attacking positions
