I'm surprised there was no gossip as to any Knights interest in Flanagan. Looks like he's going to the Bulldogs.

I think AOB will have a roster more to his liking come 2022 and it will be interesting to see what hard decisions they make.

Outside of the Roosters Flanagan would be a flop. I’m all for replacing Pearce if we could find a good option but Flanagan would be a significant downgrade. Hopefully he does go to the Bulldogs.

Josh Hodgson's cousin?

He's Josh's Nephew. Josh is Bailey's Dads Brother. I mentioned this kid on here a few week back. Massive hype around him in the UK, my pal in Leeds tells me he had every SL club in for him at 16, leap frogged from schoolboy to first grade at 16.

You could argue that the Roosters see him just as valuable as they saw Pearce.

Flanagan is as good or better than what we have but lacks Pearce experience, better than Crossland or Hoy, as a half, with some experience, season at Roosters, has youth and goal kicking. From what’s available he is close to best if not the best, I wish we had signed him, low cost, long future.

You could argue that but you’d be wrong. The Roosters gave Pearce the flick because they had an all time great to replace him. They’ve given Flanagan the flick and replaced him with an unproven kid.

What it does show is the Roosters expectations to win a Premiership versus the Knights celebrations just to reach the finals.

With Flannagan a first season NRL player the Roosters get to the 2nd week of the finals and it's not good enough.

With Pearce a 1 million dollar 300 NRL game veteran the Knights get trounced in the first week of the finals and then look at extending him.

The Knights should be putting Pearce on notice that next year will be his last unless we see significant improvement in his performance - even then on a reduced salary.

To extend Pearce at this point in time is to accept mediocrity.

O'Brien would be filthy at what he saw this season - especially toward the back end. Even with significant improvement, the search is on for decent halves.

Pearce won the lotto here due to circumstances and Nathan Brown's highly inflated opinion of him. NFW he gets that cash from O'Brien going past 2021.

The thing is Williams was also known predominantly as a running halfback but has had to work on his kicking and passing to fit with Wighton, Pearce in 13 years hasn't been able to develop even an average short kicking game
