Toohey's News
- Teams are able to negotiate with both Saifiti’s from November 1st but Clint Zammit says Knights won’t be letting that happen. Discussions have begun to sign both to long-term deals and both are seen as integral to the club’s future.
- Jones and Mann are all but signed to new 2-year deals with Hunt and Fitzgibbon not far behind them.
- Negotiations with Connor Watson aren’t going as smoothly. He wants to stay but may test his value on the open market first.
- The club has been very quiet on the recruitment front. Gagai’s asking price will need to come down and prying Finucane away from Melbourne will be difficult.
I hope Watson stays, let’s not forget the club decided to give him another year after 3 injury riddled seasons, surely until this season he’s missed more games than he’s played. I would hope that he doesn’t expect massive money or try using us as a bargaining chip. Not saying that he should take massive unders to stay either but I hope both parties can reach a win-win outcome.
Keeping Fitz doesn’t make much sense given there’s probably better back rowers we could get for cheaper.
I’m glad the club is looking for Gags to lower his asking price. I don’t mind if we sign him but gone are the days we’re we should have to pay overs for a player like him.
Not that surprised that Finucane probably doesn’t want to leave Melbourne, they could win another couple of premierships in the next few years and we will be winning 0 premierships during that time frame. If he’s not keen to come here then we should move on.
