Hard to know how to judge it when the whole reason he was being chased in the first place was potential. Could be a bullet dodged, could be yet another 'what if'.

In any case it feels too early to get depressed about 2026 already. A lot can change between now and then.

Is some guy on a train and trial really the answer? Depressing...
He is on Development Contract with potential for upgrade. Still better then what you have.
Was in demand before his injury.
Just don't see the obsession with Pezet. Has only shown to be average with potential so far.
Volkman has shown signs of actual class.
Too late for both now.
Cogger it is. Or maybe a broken down Hastings.
Pryce shows signs of class.

Just none of this is true but great work nonetheless.

It’s a shame that we won’t get Pezet but it shows how hard it is to pry players out of a top club where they’re basically guaranteed a shot at a premiership every year. At the very least I hope we forced Melbourne to up their offer to him which puts a squeeze on other areas.

It wasn’t going to impact our roster for 2025 anyway so we need to work with what we’ve got there. But plenty can happen between now and the 2026 season so I’m still optimistic that we’ll be able to improve in that position.

Pryce training at 7 and Hastings at lock surely has come up in conversation somewhere. Jackson can tackle. He could really add link in the middle roving between the halves and Kalyn too.

He literally can't run. Just hobbles around. Imagine him against someone like Murry. Nightmare stuff.

DOGS EYE PONGA REPLACEMENT

Canterbury has expressed interest in a rising 18-year-old fullback trapped behind Newcastle superstar Kalyn Ponga at the Knights.

Connor Votano played on the wing for NSW under-19s this season and will be on the Knights’ development list in 2025.

However, his path to first grade is blocked by Ponga and Fletcher Sharpe, another Newcastle No. 1 who forced his way into first grade last season on the wing.

It is understood the Bulldogs have asked the Knights whether they would consider releasing Votano given there was no clear path to the No. 1 jersey.

Votano made four appearances for the Knights in the NSW Cup last season, featuring three times at fullback and once in the centres.

How do we manage to develop 3-4 fullbacks who are on the radar of rivals, but seem unable to produce or even purchase one halfback?

Hopefully the response from us was "go f**k yourselves"

Votano is one we need to hang on to and make space for in first grade
