Hazelton is a good player and would be the most dynamic front rower at the club if we got him. He’s a big unit but has some skill.

If we could get him for around $500K that’s good business imo
Yeah not really true. Guys like Croker and Sua have very good skill sets and would be more "dynamic" than Hazelton

That being said, I like Hazelton and rate his work ethic and attitude. He'd be a decent upgrade on Heatherington if we can manage to offload him

Fox league has an article about our off contract players for 2026

mentions that sharpe and crossland are our no1 priorities because sharpe can score tries and crossland is the type of player you can build a team around

seriously, what intern wrote this?

No real football knowledge and poorly structured as if not edited?
That narrows it down to about 400 people.

I think I used the word dynamic out of place. Hazelton scored quite a few tries close to the line in 2024 so he’s a guy that can be used as a threat in that regard. Leo isn’t really a guy who’s going to crash over for one very often. But I get what you’re saying, he’s maybe not a subtle passing or offload sort of prop. But he certainly played well last year, so I think there’s good reason to be looking at him.

Fletcher will be the chief priority out of those two. And I would rate him a player you could build around before I would Phoenix.
Surely Phoenix would be a good guy to have around the club. He’s not a franchise player or anything close to that, but his work rate and team-first mentality are his main strengths. Especially given that he just made it into the NZ team, the young guys coming through the ranks could hold him up as an example of where hard work can get you. Every club needs guys like this who just work their backsides off and set standards. Honestly I can’t fault management for wanting to keep him for the above reasons alone.

I think Crossland has come leaps and bounds in the last 2 seasons and I’m happy to keep him as a 14/possible 9 at the right price, but yeah, you don’t attract other players with him.

Disregard. Was wondering why Hastings wasn’t mentioned but then I realised it’s off contract after 2026…. Very important news before 2025 even kicks off.
