Crossland would be our 14 right? Or maybe he starts and plays 15 to 20 minutes at 9 and when the grunt gets taken out of the game, De Silva comes in and Crossland plays the rest of his minutes at 13? Doesn't sound too bad.

Crossland is a slightly better Mitch Kenny at hooker.

If he moves to 13 full time I'm not sure where that leaves some other players. Dr Dr's wish might come true.
Crossland is a perfect 14 IMO, and when he's finally able to move there we'll see him go to the next level.

Any player that has been available since November 2024 and is 4 months away from being unemployed and still not signed by any of the 17 clubs, quite obviously represents poor cap value* - demonstrable fact.

My guess is it's far better to promote/sign a quality youngster with a high ceiling, and good cap value - opinion

*The good news is the asking price is dropping by the day, so if re-signed it would be at far better value to the cap.

Reading the media reports it sounds more like we’d only get him in a trade for the rest of 2025 and then he’d go back to the Tigers for 2026? I don’t really see the point of trading KPP for such a short period of time when we’re not doing anything this year? I love the look of McEwan but IMO he needs another NRL pre-season before being thrown to the wolves as a starting back rower (although we have Friz).

That was the original plan- loan deal for remainder of 2025. No player swap.
Now it’s progressed to him getting an early release and free to talk to all clubs.

If we could negotiate an immediate swap for KPP we’d have to be a good chance. Otherwise, I can see him ending up at bulldogs in 2026 as a replacement for Mahoney.

At first I was a little sad to see KPP go but McEwen looks a great prospect. Isn't ESL a backrower as well? We need a better spine more than we need a strike backrower (got on in Lucas already) so I'm happy to make the trade deal early.

It's just more evidence that this year has essentially been written off internally, really.
Can’t blame this decision from the higher-ups.

Edit:

Sorry, just realised this may have come across as a shot at you.

My intention was to say the system has made a wise decision.

Getting TDS for the rest of this year and trading KPP in the process makes no real sense imo. If we can get him for a couple of years on top then I’m all for it.
