Chase Butler is the best young halves prospect at the club (Cooper Votano’s halves partner but the better of the pair) and he has a higher ceiling than Pezet if he keeps developing. He’s only 17/18 but should be ready to be training with the FG squad when Ponga leaves.

Targeting Pezet again doesn’t really make sense. For starters he’s already rejected us and secondly we’d have to shaft Sharpe to the wing for 2 whole years to accommodate him.

If you Get Pezet, you start to open talks with Ponga to leave would save 700-800k after Pezet, that enough to target a Starting a Starting Prop and Back up.

Pezet is a bad idea, started back with his Dad, doesn’t want to be a Knight.
Wouldnt consider making an offer as it would cause other bids and he would end up with more than he is worth.
And is he any good?

Pezet already knocked back a very generous offer from us to play reserve grade at Melbourne. He’s not coming here, and I don’t think the club should pursue him again anyway.

Mooney is a guy we should definitely be talking with imo. He wouldn’t come with a massive price tag attached either given he’s looking for a regular NRL opportunity, so it isn’t going to take big $$$ to get him.

Glad Gags is getting his final year here. He has always put in for the team and hopefully next year we can do a lot better on the ladder and send him out on a better note.

Yeah no way. He saves more than double that by not living in Sydney. Only way I could have seen him going was if a Sydney club offered him like 500-600k but that wasn’t going to happen.
I did think for a second he was gone given AOB’s comment in the presser on Sunday but it never really made sense that he’d leave.

I tend to think Pezet knocked us back when there was a chance Hughes might leave. The next 4 years being his reserve might change his attitude, but agree he is a bit unknown and perhaps doesn’t want to come here any way.

It kinda shits me that the club has been pressured into re-signing Gags. At some point, the pathway guys need a path to first grade (if they are good enough). I kinda wonder whether Fletch Hunt might overtake him next year any way…

He’s old and can’t defend. I’m not much of a fan of the signing to be honest.
