Its not very effective to have players switching onfield every time you do or dont have the ball

Lots of teams do it with wingers and full back.

Just wait for a break in the game like a scrum etc.

Wouldn't that have players defending out of position for how ever many tackles it took for the scrum to happen? Might be okay for outside backs but defeats the purpose for middle defenders.

Corey doing well sitting only 2 pts off the Top in the Dally M's.
No-one above him plays this weekend so a strong showing would have him in the lead

Hope he has a shocker.... Otherwise his manager might ask for an extra 200K at the negotiating table!

Not really. Think about it.

Tepai switches with Scott and Edwards.

All 3 can defend either on the edge or in the middle. Scott and Edwards are both good in either defensive position.

Tepai, reckon is better defending in the middle as he is not so agile but he used to defend on the edge.

EELS HOOKER EYES NEW DEAL

Despite turning 32 in December, Isaac DeGois, who originally joined the Eels as cover for Nathan Peats, says he has no plans to hang the boots up at the end of the year.

The hooker wants to continue his career with the Eels, but the club has some work to do financially in order to extend his contract another season.

“I’m not retiring,” DeGois told foxsports.com.au. “I’ll be playing on again. I’d like to stay at Parra.

“The clubs going through a bit but once it cools down a bit we’ll sort out a few numbers. I’ll sit tight and wait til they’re ready and I’ll be right.”

As it stands, the Eels are roughly $100,000 short of where they need to be for the veteran to recommit but discussions between both the Eels and DeGois’ management are continuing in a positive direction.

Having pushed Peats out the door in order to become salary cap compliment for this season, the Eels have been playing DeGois and young hooker Kaysa Pritchard in his place which is likely to be the club’s ball distributing pair for the rest of the season.

The Eels told Peats they were never going to be able to re-sign him which helped promote the early exit but they still need a quality no.9 on their books for next season.

While Pritchard is under contract, the 22-year-old is still raw and limited in experience.

DeGois, a veteran of over 200 first grade games and Portugal international made his NRL debut back in 2009 and is enjoying his eighth season in first grade after stints with Wests Tigers, Cronulla and Newcastle.

I'm not sure IDG would field that many offers. I'd say we stick to our original offer if we want him for another year.

Looks like Cameron King will be shown the door.

Wasn't there some talk earlier in the year that the Panthers were keen on King when Segeyaro got injured? Perhaps they'll offer him a new home.

Looks like Docker-Clay is playing NSW Cup... I wonder if he'll be ready to step up to NRL in 2017 for them...

IDG on any more then Backup money would be a mistake, he's pretty much done.

He's been a good pick up and done a great job for us but if we go in next season with him as our starting dummy half we are kidding ourselves.

If King couldn't force his way into the side this year after Peat's departure then I think Avenger is right. However he could be only one injury away from a start and then who knows?

You gotta love how the article on IDG above throws around a figure of the Eels being short by 100K on what IDG and his manager are after like it's not a huge amount... Let's say we're currently offering 150K, hell, even 200K - they want an increase somewhere in the vicinity of 50-67% of what we're offering.... that just isn't realistic. Imagine going to a prospective employer who was offering you 100K per annum and saying, make it 167K and we've got a deal... no chance!

Of course, maybe we've offered him 800K - which case 100K extra represents only a 12.5% increase... more realistic!!

I'm inclined to agree.

Me too, IDG is on the downslope, more than likely Kayser will be starting next year, dependent on how he does with the rest of this season of course.

Paying overs for him at this point would be a silly move indeed.

If he can get more than we are willing to pay for him at another club, good on him.

An interesting situation here. Arthur's preference appears to be the use a hooker that can tackle and an attacking one later in the game. This is why I can't see us signing Segeyaro because he is a similar player to Pritchard with inferior defence. The cheaper option would be to go with a Cody Nelson/Pritchard combination. Nelson is an exceptional defender all be it a manufactured hooker that is principally a backrower.

Cody Nelson is a great defender, but from what I have seen of him at both 6 and 9, he provides rubbish service from the ruck. I guess he can improve, but gee learn how to pass merkin.

Nelson played one solid game against a Crappy St George line up, now he is the answer at dummy half???

If we want to be a threat going forward we want something better then a backrower as our starting hooker.
