I'd be inclined to agree with this, we've already offered IDG unders, why would we go spending over twice what IDG wants for a comparable player of probably equal value.

May as well give IDG the extra 100K he's asking for, it's cheaper for us, he's already here and he has been going well enough.

Pritchard is going to be the primary 9 going forward anyways.

So say we settle on IDG for $150k then throw in Kelly as backup half for $120k $270k

Wallace say $350k. No need to get a backup half and stick a youngster like Dargan in the half spot.

So $80k more for a better quality backup half who is not wasted playing in reggies

BA conceded in his presser yesterday that Morgan will more then likely be staying put in Melbourne after this season.

If I was Morgs, I would stay too. Go good in the next few years for Storm and then other clubs will start chasing him for big $$$

I doubt Kelly has increased his value from either a minimum contract of $80k / or second tier contract in 2016 to a contract of $120k in 2017.

I would say we could keep Kelly on a second tier and IDG on $200k.

And we already have Foran / Taka and probably Norman so any back up half may be our 4th back up half. Additionally we have French getting NRL experience as a potential half back too.

He has the most limited skills of any three quarter in the comp.

His strength - pretty much his only one - is straight hole running.

At least they play a game to give him a chance to do that but he's not exactly murdering them. He's chiming into the occasional hole. Melb's best players are flying and they've played some weak sides.

Blair and Morgan won't be contributing anything when the big games come around against the good sides

That's him, I'm all for giving people a second chance but he is one bloke I wouldn't want playing for the eels no matter how much talent

He's had more than a few chances as well, got punted from Penrith, Melbourne and the Tigers for major head malfunctions. The worst obviously was the American melt down where he basically committed a home invasion and threatened to kill a number of people as well as assault and malicious damage charges. He clearly has major mental problems to overcome.
He's only 21, if he did get himself sorted out he'd be a handy pick up.

It's probably that missing chromosome or whatever in his brain that makes Lodge so fearless and also so crazy that contribuited to what made him a good footballer. I get the feeling if you tried to curb his "loose canon-ism" you'd find his football ability would diminish commensurately....

Absolutely, lodge made some very stupid and scary threats. I have more issue with his offences then Wicks or Ma'u although everyone deserves to redeem themselves. With Ma'u and Wicks they did a lot of that themselves before we picked them up and lodge would have to someone prove he had curbed ghat anger and realise the nature of his crime.
