Unless we get a player in return this is pointless. Why do we want to further weaken our team, strengthen another team and reward Paulo for being a goose? We are under the cap and by all reports Paulo wasn't on much anyway so this does nothing for us.

In some ways, unless the coaching staff are intending on signing another front rower for next season, it will be a good challenge for the remaining front rowers in the squad to step up and the coaching staff will at least know what we have to work with for next season and whether or not they need reinforcements in the front row or whether what they have already in house can do the job.

There's no point in working out that they need reinforcements in March/April 2017, when they could be doing that now.

This season is done and dusted and we've got no point Junior Paulo being anywhere near the place.

While hopeful, our season is pretty much gone. We probably just trying to avoid the spoon now.

So really why keep Paulo, if we were in contention for the finals yeah keep him but it's probably not going to happen. So let him go.

While it may not free up a lot of cap space, it will probably still free up I am guessing $50-100k, which considering our cap may stuffed again next year, is a decent amount to help us re-sign someone this year.

Also it gives another forward a chance to get some experience, give Alvaro the starting position for the year. Gives him some good experience and we find out if he is up to NRL standard.

I assume Fuimaono is getting a bit of interest from other clubs, and we probably want to keep him. Giving him an extra $50k this year might just be enough to keep him.

Or a $50k top up to either Gordon / de gois may be enough to keep them on a smallish contract for 2017.

You would have to come up with a pretty good incentive for Sam Williams to want to leave the Raiders and come to Parra. After all, he's the first choice back up at a club that is probably going to make the Top 8 with an injury prone player (Austin). The only reason I could see him coming to Parra is if we chose not to re-sign Norman and signed him for next season, other than that, why wouldn't he just stay in Canberra?

The only experienced player that appears to be on the outer at the Raiders is Frank-Paul. Outside of that they appear to have re-signed everyone of their Top 20 players for next season (except for Baptiste).

The likes of Bateman, Lima and Clay Priest could be worth a go, but are they any better than what we already have on our books?

Agreed! We are shit in the Hunter these days and the games are always shit. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat us convincingly, I'm not sure how focused the boys will be.

There is just too much going on at the moment.
