I have no concerns off loading players. No use keeping Paulo if he wants to go, plus it gives Alvaro some game time.

I was just concerned releasing Gordon right now could leave us a bit short in the backs. We have already lost Morgan, both our back up halves have long term injuries, Norman is on drug charges and who knows what Foran will do.

I agree that next year should be our focus now. But, in deciding whether to release more players, we've got to try to maintain a competitive squad (i.e. one with which you go in to most games having a credible chance). Players don't develop too well otherwise. I wouldn't stand in Gordon's way, but I wouldn't push him out the door either.

And.....if we release too many players we might run into 2nd tier cap trouble.

Why on earth are we thinking of letting Gordon go early this year, to try and save cap space to re-sign Norman for next year after what's happened?

Norman's manager should have been dropping his price daily this week, to try and just get a contract signed.

Maybe it's just all speculation and bs. Just like player managers can run to the media to talk up their players prices, clubs can do the same. Maybe it's our way of saying to Normans management we are doing all we can, but we just don't have enough funds. ;-);-)

The NRL wrote our season off nearly a month ago, finally the club have woken up and realised its over.

Good to see them getting ready for next season.

Agree. At least we're not sitting on our hands. Very happy that we have BA PSharp and Shuey managing the roster for 2017.

Well it's certainly better than P Sharp.

Pauli went days later. Then Watmough. Then Peats. Then Morgan. Now Paulo, and Possibly Gordon.

And we still lost all our points and f**ked our season.

We've had some appalling mismanagement in this club, I thought Seward was the worst but I think Sharp has him beaten now.

Probably the biggest change that needs to be made is the eligibility criteria for board members.

Talk about selecting from the shallow end of the gene pool.

The salary cap points loss situation aside, IMO if Foz was 100% for the 2 weeks leading in to the Souths match I reckon we would be in a different position than we are now. Whilst the Peats release certainly effected the team, I reckon with a (mentally) fit Foz on board we would have won the Souths match and that would have resulted in the team v Storm not being flat and unmotivated.

We're now in a mop up mode, like after a Nth Qld cyclone has torn through the club. Planning for next year now for sure.

I've never pretended to understand the salary cap and I'm not about to start to understand it now but there must be a method to this that none of us know about, it could Be to make room for French to step up to the full time squad or the possible return of the prodigal son, whatever it is I can take heart that the only guy I ever trusted at this club this year is taking control of the situation...

This years a ride off so may as well give guys like Alvaro - French - Twal etc experience. Hit the ground running 2017.
As far as front loading i think its a bit of an unfair play. I mean would you not be better off going lets just have two years where squads not as strong and front load then have those players cheap for the last few years and sign some great new players and backload there contracts so for those 2 yrs you have a great squad.
It would mean 2 years of an awesome side with 4 years of average but id rather have 2/6 years where you can be top 1/3 chance of winning the comp then a 1/16 every year.
