You can use the money to top up someone at the club some extra for this year. Might make them inclined to accept a little less in future years. E.g. Norman wants $650k for 2 years (i.e. $1.3m total), we only want to pay him $600 a year, so we offer him a $100k top up this year and $600k for next 2 years (same amount $1.3m by the end of 2018 season). $100k paid now is worth more now than if it's paid in future
