You do understand that the post was directed at poor performance and what’s needed, you are entitled to think our R&R team has done a decent job. My thoughts probably borne out by results, is that they should have done better.

There is no other Gus, but the reconstruction required would be easier if there was a similar alpha type in charge. No point in backing down from that, that’s why people are getting paid big bucks to do a good job, maybe you fit in that sphere. If you don’t believe we need to be considerably better , that’s your opinion, I’m getting too old to watch inferior performances from the front office.

Needs to do better is a minimum, and that’s not sufficient in the fast moving NRL space.

Getting beat by Tigers comprehensively indicates we aren’t going well, and haven’t recruited well for years.
Of course the club needs to get considerably better in a number of areas, including recruitment.
Just not sure that some people realise the difficulty in achieving everything they want, when they are looking from an outside lens only.

And the negative inference that Rogers was "let go" by the Bunnies is a bit disingenuous given he actually worked there for 5 years. He also never worked with O'Neill at West Tigers. He was well ensconced at Souths when O'Neill did his 8 month stint at the Tigers in 2016.

Ben Rogers has extensive experience in the sports industry, particularly in rugby league. Ben began their career at the Parramatta Eels National Rugby League Club in 2007 as a Development & Recruitment Co-ordinator. Ben then moved to the NSWRL in 2009, working in development. In 2011, they joined the Wests Tigers as a Development Manager until 2014. Rogers then worked at AFL NSW/ACT as a Local Area Manager from March 2015 until November 2015. Ben then joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs in November 2015 as a List Manager. Most recently, in November 2020, they became the Head Of Recruitment at the Parramatta Eels National Rugby League Club.

Am I saying that Rogers is the best recruitment lead in the NRL, no. But I am sure there are worse and I am sure there are other reasons we struggle with recruitment.

Of course it’s difficult , the case in point which underlines the poor selection and recruitment

in 2021 we knew we were losing a significant number of NRL players at the end of 2022. The club was in the 4 and eventually made the GF, an ideal timing to secure some quality players and maybe assist the younger players in improving to NRL level.

Answer, from a relative position of strength, who did we sign - Momoseia, Murchie and a few others who have all failed to kick on. That was evidence of poor identification and it continues, that showed where we were in relation to our peers, and it has it got any better until what signing Lomax, and a benchie from the Sharks and 3 reserve graders from the Dogs.

Would you be happy with that performance from anyone that works for you, The NRL is a cut throat business and results based, we seem to be playing nice guys in employment when our competition don’t

It doesn't matter whether there is or not. There is no reason why we can't just sign Gould, Matt Cameron and the best recruitment scout in the NRL.

We the fans demand it so Beach and the board better make it happen FFS. How hard can it be?
Doesn’t Gould just straight up hate us?

Those are all fair observations. So what do you do? Fire everyone involved in the process, root and branch? Or try to work out where the main weaknesses are? Maybe the first option is right, but it's not 100% clear to me that it is. The shades of grey are where managerial ability comes to the fore. And yeh, we haven't got that right.
