I stopped caring in 2014, when I became a dad for the first time (that I know of)....and realised there's more to life than a game of footy. Now I just enjoy the games regardless...

Still, it would be great to win a premiership....but I'll go to bed an hour later and realise it didn't really change my life in any way.
I feel ya. Being a dad in my opinion was apparently why I was put on this earth. I love it more than anything.

I love my wife too. Oh damn I’d do anything for that majestic queen, unless it was NOT using her as a human meat shield if there were a hail of bullets to protect my kids.

Yep. I love my kids, those little, careless, not overly clever little sons of bitches.

Hmm. Wait what the f**k were we talking about?

It was probably around 2013 when Ricky Stuart bailed on us that I accepted we would probably always be underdogs. We will have good seasons, and could possibly jag a premiership when we do, but those narrow premiership windows will always be followed by lean periods. That's just the fate of most Sydney clubs these days.

I thought the new constitution in 2019 would change things, and it did make us more professional, but Gould’s work at Canterbury proves that professionalism isn’t the solution. There needs to be dodgy merkins behind the scenes working to bypass the rules the NRL has implemented to make the competition fair. It’s only fair if everyone follows those rules.
What does Ricky Stuart bailing on us have anything to do with being perennial underdogs? Cooper Cronk bailed on the Storm. David Fifita bailed on the Roosters. I guess they must be underdog clubs as well?

This was the best coach we had had since Gibson, and he couldn’t get out of here quick enough. He wasn’t a player chasing the money. He went to the Raiders ffs. His ‘family reasons’ for going back to Canberra didn’t mean a f**king thing until the Raiders job opened up.

My only problem is when you are looking for merkins to blame. The lack of dodgy, influential merkins who love Parra is not the fault of anyone at our club. They just don't exist. If they did, they would help us despite lack of any official connection to the club.
No mate, it’s about ability. The Laundy family are lifelong Tigers fans, yet they threw their support behind the Bulldogs. Gould’s a mercenary with loyalty only to himself — I’m not saying we should hire him, but we need someone in that mould, and we need to take a similar approach. They don’t have to be Parra people.

These kinds of operators are out there, but they cost more than Sarantonis — who, let’s be honest, is about as inspiring as a wet fart.

And yes someone is responsible. It may as well start at the top like at every other f**king organisation.

I started this year probably more NRL obsessed than ever. Not sure why but so many good stories. I was watching more footy games (almost every game each round), listened to endless hours of footy chat each week and enjoyed the Parra news.

I’m unsure why, but the whole Galvin saga for some reason pushed me from optimist to the opposite. I only share this for discussion but f**k me it’s turned my nose off footy atm.

Is that weird?

Not weird as at all

The only pleasure I am getting at the moment is watching the rookies in the NRL team plus the development players in the lower grades play.

Its frustrating watching the club chase players and constantly be knocked back Galvin is the latest along with this King-Tongia kid now playing int he NRL and just scored ffs...

It's giving me 2002/03/04 vibes.

It's not weird but it just shows NRL is a business. I got this feeling when BA was sacked and I looked at the Top 30 each year BA was here. He changed the squad A LOT in his first few years and little in his last few which led to his downfall probably.

Maybe that's part of the deal now. A good coach must move on the pieces of the puzzle which aren't fitting.

He was nothing special. How many premierships had he won by that time? The same amount as Hagan (who was a previous coach of ours. Incidentally he was also an origin coach). The Sharks couldn’t wait to see the back of him either. It’s a nothing argument.

But it suits his narrative on this occasion. Again you’ve been exposed Pou. The internet is forever.

This is why premierships is a dumb metric.

The Sharks were a basket case when Stuart joined and then blamed him for it. But it's not the coach's job to sort out the front office. Gibson certainly didn't think so anyway.

You can use whatever metric you want. Ricky Stuart was nowhere near as good as you’re making out.
