I'll probably get a lot of disagreement here but honestly joash is one of the best back up fullbacks i reckon. To reiterate back up fullback. I think we'll be fine with him there - we beat the broncos last year with him there (minus the last second fumble). He wont have the same passing vision as Iongi which honestly for a talented kid he really doesnt know how to draw the defence in better but might be more solid in defence. Hes shown flashes of some nice footwork too.
It's quite exciting! Hopefully Iongi injury isn't as bad as first thought, but if so, it will be the first time Joash is actually going to get some decent NRL time (8 to 12 weeks), in one position.

There will certainly be some rough moments but he will go good. Could be the making of his career!

BTW he was actually pretty good with his vision/passing in NSW cup. Probably better than Iongi. Think he will surprise after some experience/game time in that area.

He was my dark horse to start this year. Looked amazing in cup all of last year. His only chance at first grade was with dylbags starting and the whole team was awful too
Very dark horse, re Volkman, if a half went down, it would have to be joash as 1st drop.

Only if 2 of the spine in the 6,7 go down or suspended, he might get a crack but even saying that, if that occurs later in the year, they might blood lorenzo.

If the 1 and a half goes down, joash might go in the halves with Sean or bailey going to fullback and Kelly coming in at centre assuming that will is back

Very dark means we've been hit with extreme injuries.

So we came into the season with 28 roster spots filled from the 30

take Matto out as he will never play - so that’s now 27

Doorey and Hoppy gone for the year - 25

samrani
Iongi
Penisini 1
Penisini 2
Tago

Means we are now down to 20 fit available players for this weekends game. There is also some question marks on Riley’s fitness given he came off with what appeared a niggle after 30mins and didn’t come back - so we may have to rely on dev players to fill our Tuesday team list.

we don’t even have a 3rd hooker in our squad if he goes down.

We really are up shit creek with this squad. It’s almost imperative we sign an outside back in the next 1-2 weeks
Won’t happen!!

Nepotism in Rugby League will get a full audit in the next few weeks when the Dragons who have lost there last 8 games take the field without Kyle Flanagan.

They have 2 games winnable against the Cows & Manly at home.

Now his not the reason they have lost but honestly the way Shane carries on about his son basically like his Nathan Cleary.

If they go on and win those games then isn't Flanno going to look like a bigger tosser for his defence of Kyle.

Its not like the Dragons have had a tough start to the year either.

Outside of the Storm they have had an easy draw to start the year.

Xerri is right there

Can Ponissi of the West get it done?
Agree, but Ryles has also publicly stated he has no interest in Xerri which probably doesn’t bode well for then trying to sign him, given he’s always been happy to talk positively about players he’s interested in signing (Galvin, Keaon)

Ryles is probably sick of saying i am keen and interested for this player publicly and getting egg on his face when MON can't close the deal.

or heaven forbid, he does what BA used to do and say that he doesn't discuss potential recruitments publically.

not tthat it makes any difference with the bumbling fools that have been there for the past 6 or 7 years.

Further evidence of the bang up job our esteemed R&R team are doing, the SMH rank us 14th most valuable roster in the cmo. Flying above the Tits and Dragqueens, oh what joy, actually obvious given the roster has basically deteriorated each year since the GF of 2022.

Hopefully Matt Beach and the board read the SMH and understand just what depths we have fallen too and make the necessary adjustments to the club. Not sure of the chance of that occurring, given the pats on the back they all give each other, but that’s where we are folks.

yeah it smells like circa 90-95 ...

Our best signing in that period was Cameron Blair or an ageing Paul Dunn...f**king depresasing.

I dont disagree that we shouldve signed a marque player or two for next year but what other coach would we hire to give us this sort of "hiring edge" over Ryles? I cant think of any personally. At least we can see a clear shift in play style and when it works we look like a solid team despite some holes in the roster. We ended last year strong and have started the year mid but our attack looks solid. We need to fix our defence and clearly thats a concern. I just think sacking Ryles and restarting to find some magical coach who will start landing big names seems farfetched and just puts us back another 3 years. Ryles aint shit he also hasnt proven him to be good either but its one season where he inherited a shit roster and now season 2 its only 4 games in and were calling for his head/pressure is on?

Oh , I’m not having a shot at Ryles in anyway , shape or form. My grievances are above him. To be fair , he was probably the best option we had after Wayne , Madge , Holbrook and whoever I’ve forgotten politely turned us down.
Ryles shouldn’t need to be full time coach and recruitment officer.

Or there not interested in being coached by Ryles, u appear to absolve Ryles from much criticism, let’s not forget this is his team, he may not be happy with it, but he’s responsible for the sackings and hiring, or am incorrect regarding this as well?

Look I don’t think players are going to be leaving their wives and children behind for the opportunity to play under Ryles , but he’s no lesser drawcard than 85% of the alternative coaches in the comp, so I don’t think our lack of desired destination has anything to do with him.

Serious question, what positives does our club have that they can’t get at a more favourable geographical destination ? beside a shiny stadium and a new centre of eggs an overnight commute down the road ?

Gee, whoever the genius was who said we only post here when we lose wasn't far off the mark.

It's like a ghost town in here this morning.

Well, even though we lost against the team who were supposed flog us, this place is going off.

Ryles has been here less then 2 years while MON has had 8 years here plus working with another coach.

Ryles is not blameless but the rot with recruitment has been going on with recruitment long before he got here.

You look at when Ryles took the job and the money we had already spent for 2026 on the cap.

We lucked in with Lane pulling the pin otherwise that would have been 450-500k, Matto is on the couch taking the piss on 650k a year for the past 2 years & Paulo is on 850-900k a year.

That's almost 2 million of the cap that was originally in the budget for 2026 when Ryles arrived and all were getting atm is Junior Paulo on his last legs.

We haven't got to Dylan Brown & Blaize Talagi (PO) disasters yet.

Throw in some shit signings in Brian Kelly, Morgan Harper, Jirah Momoisea, Jack Murchie.

All this has been under MON's watch.

In terms of Ryles team there are bunch he re-signed that you could call questionable but as i said he is still carrying the can still for Matto's dumbarse contract, Jnr on overs at the backend, throw in Shaun Lane last year who played what 4 games so basically your already playing $1mill behind on the cap against the other clubs from decisions made before he got here.

I dont agree with the Pezet signing & that was Ryles call.

I’m finding it hard to agree with someone named “ King Gutho “ , but here we are. 😂

In the past i have seen a few player polls and the question that comes up who do you love beating the most.

Parra always seem in the top 3 or 4 teams in the poll behind Broncos, Roosters & Storm.

What is it about us a club that players love beating us more ahead of teams like Souths, Bulldogs, Manly.

It’s the rivalry that we have built up over the years. In order I reckons it goes something like this:

1. Dogs
2. Manly
3. Panthers
4. Storm
5. Dragons (Used to be on par with Dogs)

Honestly no idea , it’s not as if we’ve been a super dominant team for most of any of the current players lives. Maybe they love the idea of us fans being miserable .
