Farah is on $900k this year. This is because he let the club withhold payments in the first couple of years of his contract to solve salary cap issues and these payments are due now. When you read that the Tigers are paying $750,000 for him to play for Souffs, $600K of that is for previous years.
Just like Watmough at Manly

Because that isnt what Parra offered or what Moses accepted. Its a market. He is currently on $600K, the Tigers offer was $875K the Parra deal is $850K. This is fact. Take it for what ever you want and I understand that if I was a Parra fan I would much rather it was $700K but ask yourself this question. If you were Mitchell Moses and you were currently on $600K in a MASSIVELY overblown players market, with a $875K off with your current club on the table why the hell would you leap at a deal that is only marginally higher value than you are currently on at a club that whilst there are lots of positives (good coach, reasonable roster) has arguably as many negatives as your current club (recent history of poor managment, factional fighting in management, poor current form). Its not as if its Brisbane or Melbourne offering him a slight upgrade on his current contract.

Even if it was true (its not) that big bad Tigers snatched the offer away, why would you pounce immediately on a deal worth $700K with Parra?

The Parra deal is $850 and they had come to terms prior to Tigers withdrawing offer. TBH I think its a great deal for Moses and obviously Brad Arthur sees the value.
I know for a fact that the deal is way less than 850k. It is for more than 700k though. My source is my own eyes which have happened to have seen the contract

Unfortunately once Watmough gets his $300k payout from QBE it will be added to our cap for next year
... why? I thought the QBE issue was between us and QBE over whether they should have paid it. The 'actual' payout would have been done last year when he retired

*;) Of course. Look this is the internet and I dont care what you think of my source nor do I care about your bloke. Mind you seem to require reports to back him up so you musn't be too sure about your bloke yourself.

Myself, I dont question the source of my information, I know its fact but dont expect anyone here to take it on face value. Believe what you want and at teh end of the day you willwant to believe what you want to believe. But even after all that, Mitchell Moses will be contracted to Parra for $ 850k a year.

But if you need reports to back up the truth....

Is Brett Kenny "your bloke"?

Brett Kenny is no one's bloke.

You're right though. You'll believe what you want, and you clearly are

There are plenty of people who know this, Isaac, Mitch, plenty of guys at the Tigers, plenty of people at the Eels, Brett Kenny, AAP.

Look guys this might be where I duck out with any preserved dignity. We are approaching a point of diminishing returns. Just as a few of you guys have accused me of pumping up this $ 850K figure to make myself feel better about him leaving, many of you guys are clinging to a hope of $700K to make yourselves feel better about his signing.

My parting words are, he is signed by Parra for $850K. This is known by me as a fact. ;). You will know yourselves in time but you can accellerate this acceptance if you ask yourself truly if it makes sense for much hyped player who is currently on $600K in a massively overinflated players market, with an increasing salary cap, with an offer of just south of $900K on the table from my current club, with 6 months still to negotiate would LEAP so quickly into a contract with noted powerhouse Parra for just a $100K more?

Its been real. Thanks for having me.

I like that you duck out after a more reliable source comes along that says you're telling porkies.

Right, I see.

So the newspapers are CORRECT when reporting Brooks on $550k per year, but incorrect when reporting Moses signed for $700k

I assume that's because the first makes it look a good deal for the Tigers, and the second makes it look like someone doesn't like the Tigers organisation?
And so when Moses was reported as saying it wasn't about the money, he wanted to go and play on a winning team (ok, I admit he may have chosen poorly), he was wrong - or right, because the money was the same.

I'm really glad you're an impartial judge on this who 'knows somebody', I think it would all sound a bit far fetched if you were a Tigers fan.
I think the $850k for Moses and $550k for Brooks are both realistic. Brooks' form really took a dive when Moses came into the team (plus Moses is a goalkicker, which boosts price). There would have been far less demand for Brooks. That said, Brooks is good enough for first grade and a smart choice for a team juggling its salary cap. He is no star and probably never will be, but he is already a first grader with a lot of years in front of him, plus a (relatively rare) left footer and fan favourite. Plus he will be one of the cheapest starting halves in the NRL, which helps put a better team around him. The Tigers are also better off not having Brooks and Moses in the same defensive line. We can carry Moses because we have Norman on the other side and he defends quite well.

On potential yes. Haven't seen enough to say he's worth the same.
I saw enough last year from both players. They are both good first graders - fringe Origin quality. The difference is Norman defends better, whereas Moses is a better playmaker and is younger (and so has more upside). Plus kicks goals and isn't a front page story waiting to happen.
