There is nothing stopping our board or club getting our players together with the sponsors, we just can't help them sign a deal. When you have a plumber and used car salesman running the club what hope do you have meeting up with the big end of town??? Hopefully we can get an independent board with contacts with more then just the local Bunnings plumbing section and a few used care lots.

And while we are organising meetings for players and sponsors, the Cowboys are handing out wads of cash in paper bags.

Does that excuse the past 30 years of failings, mismanagement and all round stupidity???

Instead of making excuses we have to be better as a club, blame the NRL and Greenburg all we want but we are the ones that got ourselves into this mess, no one forced us to cheat or mismanage the cap, no one forced up to let go the wrong juniors while over spending on plodders.

Hopefully Max will end the era of excuses, because 30 years of failure with our wealth, juniors and massive fan base is a disgrace.

I wouldn't offer him a minimum contract he's that far past it it's not funny.

Most clubs have two better dummy half options then us.

It wasn't long ago, we had one of the better spines around. We certainly had one of the best halves combo. Look how that panned out! Plenty of time before round 1 next year. I'm sure someone decent options will pop up. Or u can keep moaning till 2017.

We just needed to be better at hiding it and not getting caught.

Our club has been terribly run, and even when it looks like we are finally crawling out of our hole we find out we have been mismanaged even worse than ever (not because they were cheating, but because they were dumb enough to get busted).
I can't wait until we get some real leadership into the place. But right now we will be a step behind the other clubs when it comes to our salary cap position because the top teams are all cheating (not proven of course, but we all know it).
Getting some legal TPA's will help a lot, but do you really think we will be able to get enough to equal the top teams and their overspending?

It'd be really funny if it turned out that the other teams aren't actually cheating, but are just way better managed... wouldn't it?

Personally I think anyone who reckons everyone else is cheating is absolutely off their head. Delusional. No doubt there are some dodgy dealings going on from time to time but honestly stability off the field does great things for the side on it. So many clubs are in a better position than us simply because they're in a better position than us.

I haven't heard the Club say they don't want Foran.
I have heard Foran ask for a release. I have heard the Club say they support Foran's need to get his health sorted, even if that means time away from the game, but I haven't heard them say they don't want him next year.

Clubs who want players to stay at their club don't issue media statements saying the player wants a release.

There should be no reason why we can't, a coach who players want to play for is a massive start. The coach has shown on the field he doesn't tolerate excuses it's time for the club off the field do the same.

IMHO he isn't as terrible as some make out (I've had a couple of opposition fans heckle me about how bad he is) he has been knocked silly a few times this year.

If I was rating performances this year he wouldn't be in the top 50% of the class.

How many games do you expect your 18th, 19th and 20th best players to have to play? If the answer is more than a couple then you want them to be worth more than minimum salary.

Worth more? Yeah that'd be fantastic. Cost more? Not so good.
I know a lot of teams will use 20 plus players a season, but I believe teams are better off with a million dollar, genuine upper echelon player and a minimum wager than a $800k quite possibly overpaid player & two $180k backups. In the end if your star player gets severely injured, is the quality difference between a $180k & a $80k player really going to make that much of an impact? A one-off game is a very slim maybe, but then you've also spent $70k on non-guaranteed insurance for one game. What difference would that $70k have made across an entire season if it was paid into you're top 17?

Imo he's gutsy as hell, but his dummy-half service is killing our attacking momentum.
