Both Glasby and Finucane would improve our ability to win the play the ball in defence immensely and McLean and Funicane would improve our ability to win the play the ball in attack considerably. None of the players in our club besides Brown has any ability in timing their runs to get the ball on the advantage line, but all three of those players do.
There is one particular reason why they and other forwards are the 'best' when they are in Melbourne and usually go to complete poo when they leave. They have a certain C Smith teeing up that timing for those runs. You can take it to the bank that if you swapped their pack with ours excluding the hookers, that Mannah, Alvaro and all the other scapegoats would all of a sudden be the ones we were lamenting losing

They just benefit from playing in a superior team, especially with the game's best playmaking dummy half creating space for them. Like Peats said after Origin, Cam Smith is a lot cleverer than him. He's clevererer than everyone.

Glasby is a far superior wrestler and wrestling technique is why middle forwards are good or not so good. You need to compare different stats than runs and tackles to work out who is better.
The fact is Melbourne have such a great defence because they are given more leeway by the referees. If you don't think the refs have a massive influence over the speed of the ruck you must believe we play perfectly disciplined opponents in the second half every other week.

Hopefully we will have the most cleverest player one day too.

Baby that definitely is a throw away statement. There are big players and good big players, I only want us to have the latter.
The old saying its not the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog holds true, both Scott and Brown are lightweight forwards but both have mongrel in spades. When they run they make an impact but eventually throwing a lightweight body against bigger bodies takes its toll. Both desperately need help before the toll becomes a burden.
You could have 13 140kg love children of Jarryd Hayne and Beau Scott. It doesn't mean shit if they running one out constantly off their own line. It's really a game of teamwork, doing your job while support your teammate

We just need to do what works for us, not try to copy a team that managed to jag a one in a lifetime player. There's a reason Bellamy will retire with Smith.

We need some taller forwards but plenty of teams have won premierships without Cameron Smith. We need to be one of those teams.

Yeah, the Storm get such a leeway by the referees that they're the most penalised team in the NRL in 2017,with around 10 per cent more penalties conceded than the team with the second most.

That's how clever they are. The can even manipulate the penalties that they give away to cause the least damage. The ref thinks he's caning them, but in reality Cam is in charge.

Yeah hopefully when we are a great team, we will be one of those.

If the referees were fair dinkum, smith would of been penalised out of the game years ago. Despite him being a great he's also one of the dirtiest players ever. He spends more time tangled with the opposition ball carrier then anyone else. How he gets away with it is a near miracle.

It's a conspiracy...

You don't need a conspiracy to gain a competitive advantage with the officials. You just need to play the percentages.

The Storm concede smart penalties, making deliberate infringements at certain times, and then Cam Smith works his magic on the refs who continue to blow the more obvious penalties but allow the Storm to get away with most of the 50/50 calls. As you said, no ref wants to blow 30 penalties, so by working the ruck in such a way that they concede obvious penalties when it suits them, they help manage the way the way referee calls the game.

It's not a conspiracy, it's a genuine tactic and it only works because they have referee Smith in their ranks. The Sharks employ a similar tactic. We couldn't get away with it in a million years.

TWAL >> ALVARO

Twal has already proved after one match, that he's a vastly better prospect than Daniel.
I'm sorry but Twal @ 20, is an all round better player and has greater leg speed to Alvaro plodder and a better defender.
Big engine too.

Staggs can eat it up, saying Twal wasn't destined for bigger things.

Alvaro has played a few very good games, but is very inconsistent imo, and is only in the 17 due to injuries and the fact that Wicks unexpectedly left early.

Why are you talking about Twal? He's not at the Eels anymore...

One game against the poorest team in a decade. Settle down.

Alvaro's best game was much better than Twal's. Wait until Alex Twal plays a few teams that aren't the Newcastle Knights.

Is premature ejaculation a common issue for you, or is this just a one off?
