Without Vave we may have lost to the Tigers. He really stood up in the game providing power AND defence. What did Mannah do? No power and some tackling that someone earlier said was marshmellow like, which we get every week. No power in his runs or his tackling, no hurt, he gently puts them on the ground. And how many minutes did he play in second half? I only remember him ONCE in the second half with 5 mins to go. And every week you're on here defending him and Alvaro. Admittedly Alvaro is better BUT really, tell me one other team or teams that would clamour for him. That is usually a good gauge on how good a player is.The fact that you and so many other miserable negative merkins miss is that YOU NEED F**KING BALANCE IN YOUR PACK. Vave technically "has defence", but it's shit and he's lazy.
Unfortunately they are probably at least 2 years away. Finally there appears to be some return on the $1m a year we spend on juniors which in the past have mainly ended up at other clubs.Don't forget, we seem to have some decent 20's players coming through.
The club would have had to made a decision whether it's worth investing on Twal or of there are some better youngsters to invest in.
Twal is a "project" player not an experienced top 17 player.
It's a gamble, but really our junior system / structure looks pretty good now, putting out potential NRL players each year, so we no longer need to pay overs for back ups.
The average distance per run is probably the most abused stat for forwards out there. It all depends on what run it is. In Mannah's case he usually carts the ball up after a kickoff, already he makes 15-20 easy metres in one run. However if you're normally running in traffic one run in ten might be 10 metres. They are the metres that really count and that is what Mannah does not do well any more.Josh Jackson is a current origin player so using that as a criteria for quality is flawed at best.
Glasby averages 90m from 10 runs and 25 tackles a game in around 45mins. Mannah averages 90m from 9 runs and 23 tackles in under 40 mins. You rate one as a superstar and the other as a plodder. But there's no agenda there whatsoever
Sponsorship of an individual player like the POOMAN sponsorship of Semi, isnt a TPA but I am sure you know that. These sponsorships are a Commercial Partnership offering and cost $18,500 per player per year.WTF ? What about 1800 Pooman ?

Been saying this for some time but various people think a defensive forward is better than an attacking one. As I have been saying, prefer we score more tries than the opposition rather than trying to stop tries being scored against us.Both have one thing though.
X FACTOR
Moses or Norman giving these guys short balls from 10 out will fix our attack.
And that is the best form of defense, being able to score and deflate the opposition.
When a teams knows your not dangerous with ball they take more risks in attack knowing they can repel your inadequate attack if turn the ball over. When they fear your attack they play safer making it easier to defend.
Why teams throw ball around against knights.
Yep, see post above. That's not a TPA though. I'm pretty sure those sponsors that are read out at the ground when they announce each player who is playing the game are club related player sponsors. TPA's can have nothing to do with the club like that if I'm not mistaken.
What happens if the player is injured or dropped? Or changes position?Sponsorship of an individual player like the POOMAN sponsorship of Semi, isnt a TPA but I am sure you know that. These sponsorships are a Commercial Partnership offering and cost $18,500 per player per year.
Funny story but true, I was having a beer in Darwin with the CEO/Owner of 1800 Pooman and he mentioned that the sponsorship they have isn't targeted at Semi, but rather at the jersey. 1800 Pooman sponsors Number 2's.
According to the Pooman dude, his sponsorship transfers to the new player who wears number 2.What happens if the player is injured or dropped? Or changes position?

I asked him that and his second preference is to sponsor fullback.Yeah I thought it would be related to the jumper...
I wonder if they'd withdraw their sponsorship if they couldn't sponsor jumper 2?

So you're saying that they didn't sponsor Semi because he's wearing 2, they literally sponsor a number?I asked him that and his second preference is to sponsor fullback.
Sorry missed this. Got it.According to the Pooman dude, his sponsorship transfers to the new player who wears number 2.
Now lets look at above, haven't you rated Mannah better in defence than Vave and Matagi and Fritchard? The fact that you and so many other miserable negative merkins miss is that YOU NEED F**KING BALANCE IN YOUR PACK. Vave technically "has defence", but it's shit and he's lazy.
There has always been a place for Mannah in our pack. Even this year, at full fitness, there was a place for Mannah in our pack. Probably even moreso than previously because we need to cover for slugs like Matagi, Vave, and Fritchard in defence and because our hooker is a rubbish defender.

Sounds like a load of shit to me.So you're saying that they didn't sponsor Semi because he's wearing 2, they literally sponsor a number?
WHAT??? It's not one or the other.Been saying this for some time but various people think a defensive forward is better than an attacking one. As I have been saying, prefer we score more tries than the opposition rather than trying to stop tries being scored against us.
