I just watched the latest episode of League Life and boy those girls have a great love and passion for the game.
I really hope I'm sooooooooo wrong about the comments I made about where the game is heading due to the abysmal leadership it has had since the super league war. These type of women are the life blood of our game.
Who knows, I don't believe it will happen. I don't think we will get the independent quality leadership that the game so desperately need before it is to late. You know a John Quayle type or even better the man himself. Why Katie Page isn't on the board for instance is beyond me.
But Young people like these girls give me some hope. The way they loved that big hit by Ruan Sims made in the Women's State game and how it was the highlight of the game for them, even if it was technically illegal. They are the future. I agree with Phil Gould, the brutality of our game is a huge reason for its appeal and that we should not be trying to smooth that out and make it pc. No one is talking about the low blows, like what happened to Slater the other day. But man to man, the you piss me off, so cop this you C*** and then a punch is thrown is never going to lose you supporter other then the ones who probably would never watch league anyway. But it brings others of all sexes and age like bees to honey.
Anyway Sorry I was/am so negative on the future of the game the other day, but I just see failure almost every time by the head office, while AFL is thriving. This just simple can not go on with out the decline of one and the rise of the other. But who knows I guess, a miracle may still happen and the clubs may put the game in front of their own interests.
P.s. What a great win by the boys last night. Go Parra!!!
