After all these years Pou"s probably a tad oversensitive about being ridiculed for "size"...No I've never ridiculed your sample size
After all these years Pou"s probably a tad oversensitive about being ridiculed for "size"...No I've never ridiculed your sample size
Especially on International Cameron Smith Day
Here's one for you @parra pete
Talking to a bunch of blokes up the pub last night talking about Parra's best team, I mentioned Ken Thornett, the mayor.
Old fella: I used to play footy with him
Me: f**k off, Pull the other one
Him: I did
Me: Who did you play for (thinking an NRL team)
Him: Coonabarabran RLC, he played captain coach for 2 years 2 GFs and we won one late 60s.
He went on to tell me that the Mayor played lock for them, old mate played hooker in the days when scrums were actually competitive.
Me: How come he played lock ?
Him: He always said "I wanna be where the action is and keep an eye on you fellas."
I never knew that about the Mayor, damn good story, many beers and stories were exchanged all night.
Fair enough. Apologies - that wasn't clear.
But what you've just clarified is also a strange position to hold. Stats aren't everything, but they are definitely something. If they didn't matter, then coaches wouldn't bother tracking them.
Yeah! After all these years Pou"s probably a tad oversensitive about being ridiculed for "size"...
Can you believe that Smith changed into an Essendon jersey for this post-game interview?
Nothing worse than a smart arse Barry...
OMFG IVE GOT A SMALL PENIS!!!Yeah!
Zinger!!!
He f**ken did what??!!Can you believe that Smith changed into an Essendon jersey for this post-game interview?
You are dribbling shit.Coaches use stats for plenty of reasons, and if players and teams probably reach certain benchmarks statistically, then they're more likely than not to win. But in reality, just because they reach those benchmark goals doesn't mean they win and coaches at the end of the day will take a win over whether they reached a benchmark everyday of the week. They'll just work on making sure they get the benchmark goals and the win next game.
Thanks for confirming what we all thought about Twiz.Hey guys,
I was at the pub last night and there was this nude maniac who had far too many and was trying to grope anything that breathed.
The staff couldn't control him - he was jumping on the tables and singing the Parra song.
Some bloke yelled at him 'what would Hayne think mate?'
He said 'Hayne? Thornett is the mayor'
He was moving past me so i called out 'I used to play with the mayor'
He swore at me
I continued to tell him that the Mayor played lock, and pretended I played hooker in the days when scrums were actually competitive.
He looked over with a maniacal gleam in his bleary red eyes and slobbered: How come he played lock ?
I said: He always told us "I wanna be where the action is and keep an eye on you fellas."
For some reason he found that funny and cackled while grabbing at his own crotch.
The cops arrived and took the old beer sod away. I am sure I will never hear from him ever again, but for some reason am sure he will remember that whacky tale I made up.
You mean Tony Issa though, right? Poor bastard probably thought you meant Clive Thornett. He was moving past me so i called out 'I used to play with the mayor'
I like to measure the amount of 'points' scored. I give teams four points for a try, two points for penalties and conversions and one point for field goals. When you add up the total amount of points it gives a surprisingly reliable indication of who won the game.Obviously stats are important because they give easily measurable metrics of performance in particular areas, they are a far more reliable source than opinion ( which will vary ) or memory ( recollection ) which is unreliable at best.
Problems arise with a lack of depth, and interpretation, I'd imagine, given they'd pay for them, Nrl coaches would get a hell of a lot more depth than us merkins will see for free on the interwebz, and make interpretations that are far more informed than those we can make based upon a dozen or so of the most prominent measurements.
You can measure anything in a game statistically, you just need to know what to look for.
