someone mentioned the clubs like Roosters and Broncos with more TPAs then the Eels and due to that we can't sign as many elite players than them.

Why is TPAs allowed/accepted by the NRL? The salary cap is put into place so every team works within the same allocated budget so as to not advantage some teams and disadvantage others in terms of playing strengths. The addition of TPA just makes a mockery of the salary cap.

Why none really worked out so far. All have size and why BA wanted. Thats obvious.

You said they were brought in for "mongrel". They probably were signed due to their height rather than "mongrel". From experience most tall and big guys don't have "mongrel" because they don't need it. It's your smaller guys like Brown, Kaysa, Scott that do because if they didn't they wouldn't be playing first grade.

EELS NET FITNESS GIANT

LOOK for a transformation of the Eels’ strength and fitness next year with the club poaching GWS AFL club high performance manager Lachlan Wilmot.

Wilmot will switch codes to oversee Parramatta’s entire NRL strength and power program — beginning early next month.

No doubt rival clubs will be watching with interest to assess the impact an AFL knowledge-based coach has on the NRL.

The opening for Wilmot at the Eels emerged as a result of legendary trainer Ronnie Palmer moving to Wests Tigers with Ivan Cleary.

so we're all gonna start hand balling the ball and kicking for goal now, not to mention we'll all end up skinny as a playboy model

The NRL have in the past stated that they don't want to limit the amount of money coming into the game. In this way they keep the star players happy, and those merkins drive TV ratings.

I don't think the NRL really wants a level playing field so much as they want viewers and sponsors on board.

If the more marketable clubs have to play an exhibition game against the Knights or Tigers every few weeks, that's the price you pay for having the Storm, Broncos and Cowboys able to draw big TV numbers every week.

The best way to have a more even playing field is to increase quality in players and junior numbers.....
You can only fit 17 guys in your team. If there are more quality juniors and players around then it evens it out.
Looking at some of the players stuck in nsw cup id say this is slowly happening and why the comp is getting tighter rather then the actual salary cap.

Parramatta is the 2nd biggest city in Sydney. With the new stadium, best juniors and a huge growing part of Sydney there is no reason why we cant be the powerhouse.
As a brand the Eels are far more powerfull then the Roosters ffs.

Ive said this multiple times Parramatta and Penrith are important for rugby league. Heart and soul of rugby league. It is too early too say but I feel both clubs have turned the corner. Both should be the Brisbanes of Sydney.

You are soooo spot on Hindy. We as a club have just squandered around 30 years of oportunities due to mismanagement. Hopefully that is now just a thing of the past.

How do you propose that the NRL stop players receiving income outside their NRL salary? What would you define as a TPA? By having a system for registering TPAs they at least have some (small) chance of policing it.

It's the easiest thing in the world to say 'ban TPAs'. Players will still get paid by third parties, and it will still be difficult to establish whether those payments are really substitutes for wages at their club.

If they could get the PA to agree to full disclosure of registered TPAs I think that would help. But the players don't want a bar of it.
