Why does the club need to make a statement? Jarryd Hayne was not contracted to us and he still isn't. Did we make a statement when any other player signed with a different club? No? Why should we now?
because he kept dissing the club at his presser and saying no offer was being made and he hadn't even heard from the club

Colonel I was certain because the coaching staff was that he was coming. There was even a chance before the board got the arse that he was going to play with us this year. This is unprecedented treachery and his landing at the airport on the Gold Coast should be soured with a proper statement from us.
Foran treated us better than Hayne and you went off at him deluxe

Yeah we have to make sure this does not end up to be a slanging match. Jarryd chose to sign elsewhere. He knows what we did for him and how we supported him.

Who cares if we made an offer or not? The fact is he's already signed and the club making a statement either way doesn't change anything, if the club makes a statement on this I'd be annoyed.

Obscene Assassin your pretty up to date with the juniors we have coming through the club. Are there any coming through the Harold Matts - SG Ball - u20S that could push for NRL in the next 3-4 years. Any kids in specialist positions that we currently lack in 1st grade.? Halves - Hookers - Props ect

I dont think we have much to say really, we f**ked up and thats a given. We couldn't make an offer due to the shit storm we have created and we are still deep in it.

Looking at Hayne's presser he really didn't seem too happy to be there, not really much excitement in his voice and when he mentioned the Eels and the club where he played his junior footy he actually sounded pretty disappointed.

It was like he had no choice if he wanted to play footy it was to be at the Titans.

We f**ked up and we couldn't make him an offer, its our fault.

Suck it up and move on.

So was it Haynes dream to f**k us over in 2015 and then again return to f**k us over in 2017????

We even sold the merkins merchandise in our store for the prick. And as for the BS we didn't offer him a contract that's absolute horseshit. Even if we didn't what's the harm waiting a few days after we bent over backwards for him while he was chasing his dream for two years.

If he had of come back here and help us win a competition he retires an Eels legend now all he will be remembered for is a money hungry mercenary with the morals of an Alley cat.

Moving away from Hayne. I am going to throw 2 names at you who should be priority.

1) Mitchell Pearce - There has been word around for ages that a fresh start for him at a new club could be on the cards. He is a fantastic club player and would be a great buy for the Eels.
2) Adam Reynolds - The best kicking game in the comp and probably the best goal kicker also. A bit injury prone but unhappy at Souths and he would also be a great buy.

Hayne is worse than Jamie Lyon, make no doubts about that. Lyon didn't milk us for every cent he could on a self indulgent adventure.
