I'll never forget Adam Peek, who was solid and useful but hit about as hard as a leaf of lettuce, smacking some Penrith half (Craig Gower maybe?) at Penrith in a game we needed to win to make the finals and being sent off... Merkin hit him square in the chest and I still believe Peek was sent off because no one believed he actually put on a hard, legal hit lol. Cost us the game and a potential finals berth, we were well on track.
Was that the game we got to an early 12 point lead???

In 03 I think.

Semantics. Coach and club parted company.

For what its worth, I think BA and club will part company at the end of this year. 5 years is a good spell and BA hasn't delivered. The club will want to be seen to be making changes.

I hope we don't just lift our skirt for anyone though. We need to recruit a top notch team of head and assistant coaches.

I'm actually leaning slightly towards not sacking him at the end of this season. I want us to go for the best coach available and that would be Bellamy, but I just don't think he would be all that interested in Parra for some reason. I could be wrong and money talks and who knows he may find the challenge of lifting the leagues greatest failure considering all the abundant wealth we have on and off the field would secure him the title of the NRL's best coach ever. But something tells me a coach of his stature wouldn't want to tarnish his legacy with what the Eels can do to a man, at this stage of his career. Maybe getting a coach close to retirement is not the best thing for him or Parra.

That is why I think we should wait for both Cleary's to be available, which is in 2020, and pounce with a mega offer for both of them. I have mentioned this before and feel this would be the making of a new era for Parra. The rumour though is that the Roosters and Politis are scheming just that. Like I said successful clubs do the seemingly impossible and the losers make endless excuses. Lets see just what happens.

But if the Roosters do sign them, watch all the apologist start bleating on that.....cut and paste endless excuse here.

So he was a pretty astute recruitment, eh?

Certainly was last year when he and Matagi made 100m or more 20 times between them.

Vave got injured, and being a fat f**k it always takes ages to get match fit.

Matagi has fallen off a cliff, not sure anyone saw him being this awful this year

Yeah, that was unfortunate. Guess you have to expect that when you sign a 'bargain' 30yr old fat f**k, though.

Yeah I think so. 14 point lead within 14 mins? Needed to win by 16 or something IIRC... Wags did the old fly out of the line job and we conceded a try, were starting to get the ascendancy back a bit and Peek was marched

If he was interested in a challenge he wouldn't have spent his entire career at Melbourne.

I haven't been calling for us to sign him but he's been pretty decent for his first season back in god knows how long:

Round 9: 14 runs 142 m 1 tackle bust
Round 8: 4 runs 26m 0 tackle busts (went off injured early)
Round 7: 11 runs 87m 0 tackle busts
Round 6: 12 runs 147m 2 tackle busts
Round 5: 10 runs 91m 3 tackle busts
Round 4: 17 runs 175m 3 tackle busts
Round 3: 16 runs 165m 3 tackle busts
Round 2: 11 runs 118m 0 tackle busts
Round 1: 14 runs 116m 1 tackle busts

He has been awesome for a massive 120k bloke coming back to the game. Like I said before, every week he just looks better and better. He would be a massive improvement on what we now have and not cost the world like a Klemmer would with similar output by next year in my opinion.

Mark my words, he will play for the State and Country. What other frontrower is on the market that we could pick up for around 5-600k that you could say the same thing about plus he has the intimidator factor too, unlike Aaron Woods.

Lodge had been solid but hardly dominant.

Not really what we need, Pangai Jr, Sua and Joe Ohenwhatever his name is have been the ones who have given them the grunt in some of their wins.

Did you watch last weeks game? Watch his first 20 min spell and the tell me those other players gave the Broncos their grunt. Not taking away from those others you mentioned, they are also very good, but I think that Lodge will be better and cheaper too.

They should be doing all they can to be getting Brian Smith as or head of football. Just makes sure he isn’t allowed to talk to the first grade team before games.

I think it is vital to get someone like him immediately, but him in particular would be a huge plus for the club like you said and you're right, don't let him near the 1st grade squad.

Does he really want to play in the forwards? He is one of the best wingers in the game. He is worth at least $600k as a winger. Oates is exactly what we need.

By all accounts, yes.

I think he is a little over rated and can be shit under the high ball. $600k for a winger I would rather Suliasi Vunivalu or if we had a completely well balanced team, the Fox.

$600k you are stepping into Semi territory and Oats ain't that by a long shot.
