Yes but he has also had to coach 3 clubs in their rebuilding years and each time has left the clubs it pretty good nick. And reaching a GF with the schizophrenic Warriors is no mean feat.

Griffins got Panthers going better. But agree Cleary looks good currently. So did BA last season.
Id be interested to see where tigers finish the season tbis and next season. They look good but its rnd 10.

As a team the y were playing better under Cleary. Under Griffin they slowly lost all that great team work that he instils in all his teams and started to look like crap.

Now under Gus/Griffin they are looking the goods again, and lets not forget, the roster has only gotten better with juniors maturing and being seasoned 1st graders now. I believe if Cleary was still there, he probably would of had them playing for a GF birth last season and if they didn't make it then, he would be knocking on the door with this lot right now.

But you never know, Gus might get them there this year too.

Penrith were in decline by the end of Cleary's tenure. He had lost the support of key players and I also remember some stories about how Gould thought Cleary was too soft on the players.

Also - I don't think it is reasonable to suggest the all of Penrith's success during Cleary's time was due to Cleary and all of their success at the moment is due to Gus and not Hook.

I am not trying to compare here - i think Cleary is a great coach and if Gus hadnt boned him maybe the panthers would be even better now???

but anyone who can't see that BA has taken us through the absolute worst abomination in almost any club history is f**kin deaf, dumb and blind .... he took on the nrl's biggest disaster story and has had no end of shit to deal with

Wayde Egan is something special in my opinion. But i cant see Panthers letting him go. Although his time in Nrl is very limited & yet proven.
Danny Levi would be another option & he is currently not happy in Newcastle.



To be honest, I totally agree. Young Egan is a great player but we will see how he goes in the Nrl.

Mahoney and Schneider are 2 young players. Mahoney is 20yo and Schneider is 18yo. I think Schneider is a few years off with his age. But if he continues to develop he is one to keep an eye on.
Mahoney is a completelly different hooker to Schneider where i think they could compliment each other. Im not sure if anyone else has herd. But whispers are going around that Berty & Titans are showing some interests with Mahoney. Could be interesting seeing his from QLD.

Given how well Mahoney trained in the NRL pre-season and the fact he played round 1 and round 10 in ISP at 20 is an indication that we'll retain him.

Not to mention that Bellamy has coached for the majority of his club career with NRL legends Cam Smith and Billy Slater.

Hard to see exactly how good a coach he is, really - Brad Fittler made Ricky Stuart look half competent; Joey Johns made Hagan look like he had half a clue.

I think Bellamy is a good coach - but exactly how good he is is hard to quantify, because he has never had to rebuild a club from nothing.

But didn't Bellamy develop those players plus Cronk. And he buys journeymen and somehow usually turns them into much better players.
