Rumours and Stuff

If you don't know how much they're on how do you know that giving them the arse will make enough space for the players you want us to buy? Simple logic says that if these incoming players are better than the ones being let go that they will cost more, and therefore they will use up more of the cap than the guys they are replacing.

If you think we can make the space required why don't you list our current top 17 salaries (in your opinion) and see which ones are off contract. You don't even need to come up with a figure. Just the 17 highest paid players in the club. Replace one of them with Junior Paulo and see how much cap would be left over.

Really...ah not always true and you know it bullshit artist and I wouldn't be foolish enough to try a guess what our whole roster is worth individually like you were. Only manipulators and crap artists try to do that to win an argument and then have their acolytes reinforce the crap assumptions.

Also like I said, we were reported as being under the cap this year to start with. So all your reasoning is out the window unless you also magically know that figure too you little magician.

The bottom line is there are many ways to legally adjust a salary cap and you wouldn't be privy to any off them within the club.

And for those that reckon it would cost us $1m to get TPJ to Parra, yeah maybe and therefore we shouldn't go through with it. But I can't see him being on more then around $400 at best at this very moment. Can anyone else? He was still earning his spurs in 1st grade when he last signed a contract. So therefore logic would suggest if you offered him around $700k that would be a very tempting offer to a young kid and his manager. Don't you? At the very least you are pushing the Broncos cap to breaking point and therefore maybe making other opportunities available.

Also there is Lodge, who again going by reports signed on for around $100k. Now I don't think he signed for that low amount, but maybe he signed for around $2-300k. Again if we offered around $500-600k, that could be a very tempting offer, to him and his manager at present, considering that he has massive bills to be paid.

Also there are others in the Broncos ranks that are young and on lower pay in the Broncos system that could be enticed with the right offer.

Like all you apologists out there like to say, they can't keep them all. All I want to see is for Parra to be smart enough and get just one or two of them. Time will tell.

Eels want salary compensation for Scott

Parramatta will approach the NRL about the possibility of medically retiring veteran forward Beau Scott after he suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Warriors last week.

The Eels will ask whether the ruptured ACL, that is expected to bring an end to Scott's career, is classified as a career-ending injury.

If the NRL deems the injury to be career-ending, it would give the Eels significant salary cap relief.

Scott is on a back-ended deal with the Eels worth in excess of $600,000 for this season and given there are more than five months remaining in the rugby league calendar year, Parramatta may have $300,000 extra to spend if the injury is deemed to be career-ending.

Haha, you'd think an injury that ended someone's career would be classified as career ending. But I suppose you never know with the NRL

If you're referring to my comment, that was in response to Glenneel "suggesting" we pay Broncos to take Norman fully & then we sign Pangai. The turnaround on that for us is we are paying Pangai his contract plus effectively whatever we are paying Norman to play for Broncos. That's ludicrous. Plus I doubt Pangai is anywhere near $400k this year, but that works in favour of your trying to steal him away. But, in danger of sounding like a Pou acolyte (a Poucolyte if you will), another middle forward is not as pressing a requirement as other positions, specifically hooker

Hmmm...if this does happen, what shall we spend our 300k on?

600k for Beau this year? I thought he was signed for 400k ish?
A reference also to Normans huge back ended deal in another article?
Maybe our assumed tough negotiations arent what we thought they were.
Who negotiated these?
At this rate Moses will be on a million next year.
Jenko is probably on a "bomb" next year as well.
Lord knows what Kane Evans will be on in year 4. Fingers crossed hes not still playing in the 2s then.
Little wonder Junior came home.

It's the players we are trying to cut that have huge backended deals. It's the pre-Des Bulldogs effect. Sign players cheap and when they come off contract multiply cap space to the factor of 3

No way would we get $300k back. Players get paid from Nov 1st don't they?
5 months salary, so still maybe 150/200k which could be enough for us to front load someone for next year.

Especially if we can bring a young bloke into the top 30 to do it.
