And why the f**k should they exist? Transfers mean opportunity, and put pressure on clubs to present a decent offering to their juniors.

There’s rules introduced for a reason. It stops the stronger clubs weakening other clubs by poaching their players.

Last year, one of our teams was promoted into div 1 and was struggling to compete with their opponents. But, our team was too strong for div 2. After playing one of the strongest clubs, where we were totally outplayed, the rival coach approached our best player to see if he’d be interested in joining there team the following year. Now you tell me, who is that benefiting? They already clearly beat us.

Lets go back in time...

You really just have to laugh don't you...

Source - DT in March.

Towering Eels recruit Kane Evans leaves Sydney Roosters and arrives at another club worthy of 2018 title

KANE Evans walked away from the star-studded Sydney Roosters and straight into a Parramatta team he declared can also win the 2018 NRL title.

Evans has arrived out west with some Bondi bravado by proudly spruiking Brad Arthur’s men have what it takes to end a 31-year premiership drought.

“And if we didn’t have a chance of winning, I wouldn’t have come here,’’ Evans told News Corp Australia.

Kane Evans is determined to make a big impact at the Eels.
“I’ve seen what the boys can do and what the coach can do, and I know we have the right ingredients to get that grand final.

“This is the year. I wouldn’t have come if it wasn’t. I’m excited.

“It’s the best club I’ve been to so far.’’
And the saddest part of all he was very excited :frowning2:

Are the stronger clubs perhaps more attractive to players? Why would you want to stop a kid from going there? Anti-poaching rules just mean kids are stuck at under-resourced clubs and getting belted every week. It sucks when rats abandon a sinking ship but these are children. They shouldn't be expected to remain where they're unhappy.

Sounds like it might benefit the kid, plus it would benefit this strong club. What you're missing is that this other team didn't go into the season with the goal of putting 60 points on all the minnows. They are engaged in a parallel competition with the other strong clubs in the comp. That's why they want to poach your best player. I'm sure they don't care whether they beat your mob by only 30. They're thinking about the finals before the season even kicks off.

And I agree it would suck to be your team. And the entire situation is shit. But freedom leads to oligopoly. It's the natural state of human competition.

like he has so many choices, you cant pick uncontracted players you know

I doubt anyone here would have predicted the Mennings drop in form at the start of the year let alone BA in fact some here were arguing he was still good enough for Origin

also Smith had some decent games at the end of last season and deserved his place in the squad as a utility and I see he is one of this weeks scapegoats but apparently its all BA's fault because he was supposed to foresee all this last summer
My concern is simply the fact that Mennings continues to be selected when his performances dont warrant selection. Its not his form but its his attitude that is more worrying to me.

Even out of form he is still in the best 17 players in our club. He's not a fringe first grader you drop when he's out of form. He is a key member of our squad. He plays whenever he's available.

Serious question. Your preferred backline without Mennings.
Dont care who it is but find someone who puts in. Let Mennings find his form and attitude in the seconds. Try Salmon. Try Nikore in the centres. Try Hoffman. Try Davis ffs. By continuing to select Mennings we are encouraging his poor attitude. There is no "I" in team.

If he hadn't played our defence would have been worse. He made 26 tackles and missed only two, with Moses on one side of him and French on the other. Hayne made eight tackles and missed four ffs.

Mennings is still easily in our top 17. The problem is he is probably in our top five for salary.

Are all these options available or just wishful, frustrated thinking?

Frustrated? Yes. Wishful? Hardly. Prepared to encourage pi** poor effort? Definitely not. A message needs to be sent to Mennings and we are obviously not prepared to do that. We are rewarding lack of effort. To my eye it dosent appear to be working too well.

Remain unhappy???? These are kids happy to play with there friends. You’re missing the point. If we only had one dominate junior club in the district, how would anyone improve as a whole???

I don't think lack of effort is the problem. Not with him. His problems this year seem to be related to his headspace (i.e. preparation). Chronic dropsies and poor decisions have been his sins this year, not lack of effort.

Ifr33k, please don’t respond or humour the Pou. He seems to be on here for reaction, and he’s getting worse at it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You only need two dominant clubs to at least have some competition. How many dominant clubs are there? Wenty, Cabra, Guildford? What comp does Mount Pritchard play in these days?

I'm here to point out your useless, self-serving argument. Looks like you've realised you're being called out so yes, don't respond or you'll surely look even stupider.
