Good players dont have basic mistakes in them like Gutho does.
5 stupid mistakes bye Gutho in 1st half alone. 1 cost us a try. Another pass from dummy half turned the ball over & guess what, Knights score again.. Cant pass, Handbreaks at the line with kick returns.

Guthos forms been ordinary and our Hooker is worse in comp. We have made a start with some good signings. Along with lets hope 1 or 2 more amd a few juniors plus guys getting back into some form like MJ,Guth,Tepai and we will be going fine.

So many of our players are going worse than last year. Merkins whinging about our 'ageing team' but apart from Scott and Gower (who has probably had his best season), the oldest of the rest of them are only 30 this year. That's not old with modern sports science. Thirty year olds are still at their peak.

And some of the blokes who are worse than last year are a fair bit younger than that:

Auva'a (26)
Brown (25)
Evans (26)
French (22)
Gutherson (24)
King (27)
Moeroa (23)
Moses (24)
Norman (27)

All those players are young enough that they should have been better players this year (King and Norman because they are spine players so they should still be getting smarter, or less dumb anyway). The main reason the pundits tipped us to be a better team in 2018 was because so many of our guys were on the up.

Yet the only blokes who have improved from last year are Alvaro and Gower. Plus Hayne, Williams and Niukore based on lack of footy in 2017.

Lets face it, we won't see the best out of our players really for the remainder of the season. They may chirp about getting better and finishing on a positive note, but psychologically they will find it very difficult to play at their best week in week out, when again they know that there is no semi finals to play for.

Players will be in and out of efforts and desire from here on in. What's the difference I here you say from the start of the season?

No rubbish is the shit dished up by this team week after week. Why do they go away from the game plan then???? Is it because they find it boring???? Terrible structured tactics that are as boring to play as they are too watch??? Block play after block play, we always seem to be setting up for that super exciting sweep play that we have had since 2014 that is easier to read than spot goes to school. We got dominated by the worst defensive side in the comp, only Hayne brilliance made the scoreline close. 3 tries against that Newy team is embarrassing.

Awesome, they followed instructions for a quarter of the game....you do know the game goes for 80min don’t you? They then continued with dumb ill disciplined footy that they have shown all year, even though the coach has repeatedly threatened to make changes for poor discipline.

How can the coach make changes when the system does not allow him too ? He has a top 30 that were super competitive last year save Semi.

They are not playing to their potential and as well paid professionals the buck stops with them.

Last night they start looking like comp leaders and then the wheels fall off.

The coach has not lost the dressing room. It’s the players who need to take a good look at themselves. Problem with the system is that BA cant just put 10 in reggies and debut some kids. The NRL wont let him.

To be fair, I don’t think anyone is putting all of the blame on BA, but he deserves plenty. There are quite a few players on the chopping block as well. The clean out needs to happen through the playing roster and coaching staff.

Some of the previous comments in this thread appeared to ignore the players faults and focus disproportionately on the coach.

I agree. Some changes needed in both areas.

A poor season will mean that the entire club will be under review. Having said that if you are on $300k and you are being lazy and making mistakesin your job, merkin can’t turn around and blame your boss. Merkins on this site treat the players like they are brainless greyhounds.
