He's a lot bigger than Preston Campbell and about the same size as JT. Those two went alright.

If I’m not mistaken, he’s played some junior footy in the halves. Although it’s a huge leap playing there in firsts. Not sure how he’d go in the defensive line. We have seen him put some nice kicks that have lead to tries. Would BA risk it playing him there?

Well how could there be proof? He hasn't even had a go yet. Campbell was playing reserve grade at this stage of his career and was a fullback. Didn't get a go in the halves until he was about 24. Even JT had plenty of doubters in his early years. And no one is screaming about making this move, we're just speculating.

Bevan did OK at six in the one or two games I saw him play in the 20s there.

That said I think the extra defensive workload in first grade, coupled with the type of footballer he is, means it probably wouldn't be a viable long term option.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not wanting him at 6 or 7. If French is to survive in the NRL at fullback, he needs to bulk up a little more. And I dare say he needs to play behind a slightly stronger forward pack than we’ve seen from parra this year.

It would definitely be less likely for French to get rag dolled into touch or the in goal if he was playing 6. It would also add to our general ability to bring the ball out from our own area.

He could just do the “play making” role from fullback - saves him from the defensive workload while Ferguson wouId help with rucking it out.
