I reckon the impacting influence is actually the players themselves.

My mail is that whilst they get on okay, they just don't 'gel' on the field. Both of them want to be "the man" and there is a lack of mutual respect on the field.

One of them is a pretty bad influence on some of the other players off the field as well.

Happy to be proven wrong though .

This is just one part of our squad balance being all wrong. What you're saying I don't think anyone would argue with.

12 months ago most clubs would have killed to have this combination in their ranks. The real problem is finding out what actually happened and why. Then fix it. If we dont have people in our system to fix it then thats the real problem.
Good players dont become bad footballers without an impacting influence.

I understand the standard line mate. It appears everyone wants to run with this. What i see is both really putting in. Norman has been shifted yet hes still working hard. Some of his last line defence has been amazing. Moses defence has improved leaps and bounds. Skill and talent are rare comodities and both these blokes have it in spades. Put a plan/structure in place that keeps everybody happy and works. Again i say if we arent capable of this then get people who are. Would this happen at Brisbane or The Storm? I think not.

Gazzamatta these 2 posts are so spot on and the best from anyone here for quite a while. The highlighted bits are what we need to happen, for sure.

These two individuals have endless talent, and sure some of the players around them are useless at times, but still for them to seem so clueless in the red zone and robotic is very troubling from a coaching perspective. I think that our coaching staff are inferior to other clubs and it dramatically shows on the field every week. Add to this our lack of genuine leaders and it is a recipe for wooden spoons not premiership titles, which is all we seem to win convincingly.

No wonder we are seen as a shit destination club by other players and the butt of jokes, which I am sure many here have suspected was the case. "Parramatta also polled poorly in the player survey" https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/cl...-power-base-change-shape-20180824-p4zzk2.html

I have forever been wondering why we don't get someone like Matt Johns to help out our halves? I mean if he is seen as a positive influence by Bellamy and the Storm and others, then why don't we get that extra help that our boys obviously need? But I suspect that we need a complete coaching overhaul at least under the head coach during the off season, then see what the head coach can do in 2019 and go from there.

But our lack of creativity doesn't stop with the halves. It also extends to our forwards in particular. Our back rowers have to be the least effective out there and run the poorest lines that I can see in the NRL. Who the hell is coaching this stuff? Anyway, enough negativity for now, lets just rejoice in our record breaking 14th, yes people, 14th Wooden Spoon title. I'm sure this will take decades, if ever for any other team to match or even surpass.

Winning!!!

Having someone like a Mathew Johns come in also could be good for the club from a profile POV.

MJ has given us a very hard time at times during the last couple of years and I can’t help but think aside from his coaching ability being around the guys everyday may mean he doesn’t give us as much shit.

Spot on. We are not that liked in the media by most of the younger commentators and seen as either a sad basket case of a club or just an absolute joke/mentally soft football team when they were playing against us in their playing days. We have very little positive perception currency as a club and the reality more times then not has been extremely accurate.

We need some tough hard arses. Mahoney I like for that reason. Looks a menace. Niaukore has decent power but not a leader or aggressor at this stage.
Bar Terepo, who in our side pulls off a big booming hit that stings the opponent ? Old Mannah and Alvaro certainly do not nor does the lumber jack Evans who is as soft as cotton. We need some balls. You can change the momentum of a game with one set and it can be done without the ball with 5 big hits that hammers the defense and forces the halfback to a rushed poor kick.

We need a Greg Bird style to lead us. I do not see anyone in our pack with that sort of mongrel. I also think it has to do with how we are spotting guys. Dofs always have a tough mongrel pack due to coaching and type of players they recruit.

Danny Wicks was last prop we had that had some nutz. Also the last prop I can think of that won a man of match. I dont see one guy in our pack capable of making origin or even a consideration. Its pathetic.

Surely you don’t mean it might be the coach???

How dare anyone question him on here, it’s the refs, the NRL, the heat, the cold, the players, Max, Bernie, the board but don’t you dare at all question the coach with his cutting edge game plans in attack and defence.

The teams success was a result of individual brilliance, primarily from Semi, but also some energy and effort and getting yourself in the right place to take advantage of things in Gutho.

Semi's ability to bring the ball back from our own line, his ability to more often than not get us a penalty coming out of trouble and his and Gutho's ability to create tries out of nothing was what all our success was built on. Semi's now gone and so has the primary reason for success.

The Raiders had the same reasons for their success in 2016 and we had the same reasons for our success in 2009 and a decent 2014 season.

You cant sustain success on individual brilliance alone. It is fleeting and as quick as it comes, then as quick as it goes.

Outside of individual brilliance our game plan and teamwork is an abomination. Individual brilliance just masked the deficiency of the team.
And the Deficencies of the coach.

Im not trying to be controversial by any means. BA was the perfect guy for our post Salary Cap disaster. Hes Parra through and through and has my respect. Maybe I am wrong but ive always felt BA likes everything done his way. That can be both positive and negative. We need strong management to ensure each individual does his or her job. Refine and adjust. You write of coaching support. What happened to Brett Kimmorley? Lots of positive stuff was written re his short tenure then he was gone. Palmer gone. We secure a nuffy. Gentle gone. Grima becomes assistant or does he? Hes not mentioned at all now days. We lost Matt Cameron to Penrith, Luke Burt etc. Why did these people leave?
The new HOFM Position will be very interesting. Will BA be happy that he will relinquish some control? Maybe this is the piece of the puzzle that is missing. I guess we will see.
I really hope the review achieves what it should be designed to achieve and that is to identify and correct whatever stands in the way of our great club realising it potential and maintains same.

Being an Eels supporter runs deep, was at my granddaughters netball this morning, when a parent form the opposition arrived and was describing last nights game in colourful terms. He then went on the abuse the 14 year old umpire and the 10 year old girls playing agst his daughter.

He was ejected from the ground and the usual good natured game didn't end so good natured. That's how deep feeling have become this season, the club really needs to improve next year as it is taking its toll.
Or psychopaths need to adjust their behaviour and not use it as an excuse to abuse children

they are all middle forwards - mad merkins who run and tackle like berkos in the middle ..... you used the term "pack", not prop
I said Danny wick was last prop.
Plenty of locks around low 100kgs yet very few Props under 110kgs. If it is the same why dont they have another 110kg guys there. Cause the lock usually plays ip to 80mins and has a little nore ball skills
