True and I can see the deathriders lining up already.

That could be offset by the fact that he could help develop some younger halves so that there is a transition plan.
I starting to have trouble working out who the deathhuggers and nutriders are, these days.

The coach going doesn't mean that all of the criticisms of BA were accurate or that he was the cause of all of our problems.

The review will likely conclude that there were a heap of other aspects around the front of house that have also contributed to our demise. If they don't fix those as well then the next coach won't be given the best platform going forward.

If I was Flanagan (or anyone else looking at the job) I'd want some assurances that the club will be properly managed.

The teams success was a result of individual brilliance, primarily from Semi, but also some energy and effort and getting yourself in the right place to take advantage of things in Gutho.

Semi's ability to bring the ball back from our own line, his ability to more often than not get us a penalty coming out of trouble and his and Gutho's ability to create tries out of nothing was what all our success was built on. Semi's now gone and so has the primary reason for success.

The Raiders had the same reasons for their success in 2016 and we had the same reasons for our success in 2009 and a decent 2014 season.

You cant sustain success on individual brilliance alone. It is fleeting and as quick as it comes, then as quick as it goes.

Outside of individual brilliance our game plan and teamwork is an abomination. Individual brilliance just masked the deficiency of the team.
Looking at yesterday's game between Dogs and St Geo, it appears Dragons have adopted our style of play with obvious results. Now Dogs on other hand, had them pencilled in for wooden spoon, have bought in some youngsters and they are now playing attractive football, and winning. Damming indictment that our halves, with all their experience, are playing worse than Dogs 2 youngsters. Wtf is happening? Is BA at fault or something else happening? It is a real worry that he'll be there next year!

That sounds about right Avenger.

I like BA but don't think he is the coach we need moving forward. The only way we could keep him on imo is to get a decent attack coach and defence coach. But then what is the point of having BA?

He has had 5 years. In that time we have not moved forward enough to be a regular finals contender. Sure we would have made it in 2016, but were we ever a chance of winning the comp?

I saw an article recently where he was interviewed by NRL.COM. Massive alarm bells there for me. He admitted that the players were sick of hearing his voice. He didn’t go out much in public because he is embarrassed. He takes full responsibility etc etc.

Just asking, rate the purchase of Junior out of 10. Feel free to add your thoughts why you rated him the way you did. For me, it's a 7/10. I feel he's become too big at the cost of mobility and game time. I also think he's susceptible to suspension and injury. However, he does offer that much needed grunt up front.
As I've said numerous times he is just too big now. Needs to get back to around 120kg to regain mobility and stamina and hopefully that'll happen next year. But we need at least another (but preferably two) big boppers to help him. He has good ball skills, which we desperately need, so hopefully he'll be rated a 8 or 9 next year.

Maybe the reports are true then, he has lost the dressing room.

The fact that we went from 4th to 16th in one season is inexcusable and ultimately the buck stops at the Big-dog. So he has to go now in my view (unless his replacement like Holbrook or Flanagan are not available until 2020).

The reason why sides slide however is very complex and would love everyone to first analyse the demise of the Cowboys, why they have been hot and cold all year and then play like the All Blacks on Friday.

Same analysis with STG. They were premiership favs leading into origin, then started to slide. They were horrible yesterday and I think we would have put them away. The Footy Gods have been very kind to them this year with injuries, yet they have really hit the wall.

Yes we have been shit pretty much all year, but I find it compelling that there are teams who have great squads on paper, yet fail to deliver.
