Hasson and Tanginoa where at club and further up ladder then Twal. That is what cost us Twals signature. He was deemed excess. Since has excelled

“Parramatta fans are entitled to be filthy every time they see boom Broncos forward David Fifita run around in the upcoming finals.

I’m hearing that the Eels’ recruitment staff identified Fifita as something special some 18 months ago and got the youngster to agree to join the club on a three-year deal.

But the Eels board refused to sign the then 16-year-old to a six-figure sum, declaring it too much of a risk on an ‘unknown’ kid.

Just another reason why the Eels need a football manager to help embattled coach Brad Arthur”

And that is the real story. Other then Klemmer, there are no real star players in the list that have come out of Parra in the last 10 years or so, when you compare it to the calibre of talent that used to come through the junior system. That's the real story.

We aren't spotting the best kids anymore and so they move on to other sports or drop right out of sport altogether and pursue other interests(which isn't hard to do now a days when you are a teenager) and therefore 18's upwards are ultimately producing less and less quality first graders. So here we are, who was the last real quality kid to come out of our junior system in the last 10 years? Junior Paulo maybe, but after him you scratch your head and realise there are none that really fit star(representative) quality status.

I think that that is what will come out of the review. The lack of identification at the younger ages, just like Klemmer for example who was running around in the 15's 3rd grade side not being given a go at the higher grades and the Canterbury scouts spotted him playing there and approached him and ask asked why was he there and he said that they won't pick him in the higher grades. So they told him if he wants to get a run in the top grades to come over to them and they will. So he did and look who he is playing for and will be a passionate firebrand enforcer for 10+ years now. He is the kind of player that the Eels have NOT produced for more then 30 years. That is a monumental cockup.

Players of his calibre are so rare that we should never over look them when they are coming through our system. He will be the power house of their engine room for the next 7 or so years on top of the 4 or 5 years of rep quality that he has already given them. Gallen as difficult as it is to watch him play at such a high level now for what, more then 15 years? It can be argued that he was not a standout and very small, but Klemmer was always an obvious standout when people talk about him at the junior level. We as a club just don't have the right people and systems in place to capitalise on even some of the lowest of low fruit in our own garden.

Lets hope that this review will FINALLY fix the missing ingredients that have eluded us for so long. We wait and see with who they fire and who they hire in the coming months. But at this point after sooooo many false starts, I won't be holding my breath that they get it completely right, after all, didn't our current coach say when he started that he wants to make sure that our juniors were sorted and that there would be an emphasis placed on junior development? Still waiting see, but I can't say that I am filled with great confidence so far.
TLDR - waahh waahh waahh no one noticed David Klemmer the superstar 14 year old, who was such an obvious talent he was playing div 3, except some Dogs scout who probably was there watching a completely different game and noticed some big kid probably coincidentally having his one good game of the season. And waahh waahh BA said he was going to sort out our juniors but where are all our 18 year old Origin stars? What? No I've never watched a game of junior football in my life

FFS Hasson & Kelepi were 2nd tier you f**k muppet. None of them played 1st grade so how the f**k do you equate that with being "further up ladder"? Twal left for a full contract so the players he would have been contending with are, as stated ad nauseum, Mannah & Alvaro who were both already under contract. If I were the club/BA, I'd have weighed up what Mannah will offer over the remainder of his bigger money contract life along with the likes of the next crop coming through (Kaufusi, Utokaslfnkasfi, Keppie, Dresler) with what Twal would have offered along side Alvaro

Perfect real life example of what I wrote about in my previous post. The people that we have in executing all the different systems that need to come together to make the whole organisation a success are either incompetent and/or antithesis to each other and the club as a whole.

We need the right people, in the right roles to do the right thing for the club to ever turn around and have any sustained success. Just another sad story we can add to the growing list of missed opportunities we can all lament over for the next 10-15 years.

I just don't know what to say anymore. When ever I think of these things I just shake my head in absolute disgust and disbelief. How bad can this joint get? It just doesn't seem that this shit will ever really stop. They will just keep promising and promising, but in the end we will not truly be a leading professional and title winning club.

As SL mentioned above!! What happened in 2016, around the time we may have been talking to the youngster?

Can’t really blame Gurr / Max or BA for missing this opportunity!!

But moving forward it seems they are getting there, gee we have some promising juniors in our squad next !!’

A forwards a forward....
Tepai plays both,Gower does,Terepo can, Kenny had. Would of meant Tepai stayed for 80 mins on edge instead of 25 on edge and 40 in middle.

FFS!! More crap!!

A forwards a forward is a pretty f**ken stupid comment!! Do you actually watch rugby league ? Most middle forwards are incapable of defending on the edge!!

And:

Terepo never plays on the edge.

Gower rarely plays on the edge and is seen as a middle forward.

Edward always played on the edge in recent times and was never in the side as a middle forward.

Yes Moeroa plays both and rarely spends 80 mins on the edge as BA as had an edge forward on the bench.

But Twal NEVER plays on the edge!! And Pritchard always played on the edge!!

BA wouId never have had Twal in side if we needed an edge forward because he can’t play that position FFS!!

Really? At least I am not talking crap !

So we have 4 middle forwards on the bench now?

You do realise it wasn’t until round 12 last year that we actually had an utility on the bench ? The previous 11 games it was a bench of 4 forwards!!

So still not sure how Pritchard stopped Twal having opportunities in the top side!
