Rumours and Stuff

Yeh, that's a potential example.

Or in our case, our average performance over the last 20 years is probably 9th or 10th (maybe 11th), and the further we get away from that level in a given season, the more strongly we revert towards that level the following season. It is just a measure of statistical tendencies over time....doesn't have to apply.
Gotcha. I guess this year shouldn't have surprised us all that much then.

I remember when Smithy was coaching us the chorus of deathriders couldn't wait to see the back of him.

Now we seem to have gone full circle with some of the same people wanting him back.

I wonder how many will want BA back as HOF in 10 years time.

It's an interesting fact that the club has won 14 Wooden Spoons and 4 Premierships in its 72 years and that all of those Premierships and none of those Wooden Spoons happended on Fitzy's watch, which is almost half of the clubs lifespan.

Sometimes you are better off with the devil you know.

Its easy to say we are a club that avoids tough decisions eg BAs retention yet we have also been accused of making hasty decisions.
We long for a Gibson Like figure at our club. Either that or nurture and support a younger coach of the right charachter. The issue remains though are our decision makers capable of finding the right mix within an individual both coach and HOFM?
Our review should hopefully provide at least sufficient answers to commence the process. I guess we then need to put these recomendations into practice. We need to make tough decisions. Are we capable? Truthfully Im not sure. As always I live in hope.

Actually it's quite rare that we should have such extreme outliers (positive and then negative) occur in back-to-back seasons. The fact we overachieved in 2017 set expectations far too high for 2018. This coupled with the underachievement this year is the cause of much of the fan hysteria at the moment.

We just won 22 games in two years, which is pretty standard for us (since Smith left we have averaged ten wins per season) but because it was 16 wins followed by 6 wins merkins are losing their f**king minds. We'll probably win about ten games again next year but it might well be anywhere from six to fourteen.

Other than the Canterbury 4 which the club only got because of super league the only current international that Fitzy ever delivered to the club was Bob Lindner in 87

Although he still managed to win five Origin games in the two years he was with us. At club level he won 11 games from 28, and missed 18.

Since 2005 its been a miserable 13yrs.

A miracle 2009 which until past halfway of season was woefull also till we just played jungle ball and it stuck . What have we produced.

2017 was a two and out. Didn't win a finals game. Nice effort vs Storm but pounded and embarrased against cowboys. Never in it.

In 2009 we only won 12 regular season games. We had a bit of momentum and luck in the finals too, but regular season results show the quality of the team. We only had a +39 for-and-against last year. In 2009 we were +3.

Sure. DA saw the problem and went ok let change our playing style. And it worked. Come off. It was risky but it paid off bar the final. And we lost to a team non compliant to the salary cap.

This season we just marched out the same game plan and same garbage.
Valuable lesson for BA. NO RISK NO REWARD. I am confident he learnt from this and understand completions doesnt alone win footy games.
The 5 step shuffle kick n chase wont unlock a defense.

I guess that depends what your priorities are.

Win a GF or just avoid the spoon.

2006 we lost to melbin 12-6 in the prelim finals

2007 we lost to the storm in the major semi finals

Anyone remember what was constantly changing between 05-13 that would perhaps hamper the culture of the first grade team trickling down to the juniors?

That's great, of course fans should be happy with just being an average club popau.

There are some great advantages at Parramatta through one of the largest jnr base, a league's club backing and a central Sydney location, and a top notch upcoming stadium.

I don't blame the fans for losing their minds. They shouldn't accept being a mediocre club. Parramatta should absolutely be top 6 every year minimum, and we are absolutely sick of do gooders like yourself who make excuses for everything
