So the key is to offer all aging players multiple years?
Offer whatever you think they're worth. Offering extra years is functionally the same as back-ending. Hasler won two premierships that way, plus made another three grand finals (fewer losses than Bellamy). How many premierships would you need for it to be worth back-ending contracts?

Not sure I think starting training now is a good thing. Yes I know he had a poor year and it’s a good sign if the article is true. But footy is a long season and so is the off-season, surely a 4 or so months of season is plenty of time to get into shape.

I suppose the real concern is not having a good break to refresh yourself and risk burning out by starting training to soon (training for 5 months ??)

Anyhow wonder if there is a bit more to the story of Moses not going...

Moses skipping a holiday would be more about “touring facilities” of another club, rather than doing extras.

Surely players have learnt from Blake Austin’s balls up. If there is a multi year offer on the table, backing yourself can backfire.

So if he has an offer from say Brisbane for 2019/20/21, he either takes it or faces being jobless, playing for unders or ESL if he fails again next year.

Roosters GF pack only had 2 players over 110kg, Napa at 113kg and Tetevano at 111kg.......and both started from the bench.
So JWH and Taukearko? are under 110kg are they? If Napa is only 113kg then I must only 70kg on their scales. But yes the Roosters do have lightweight forwards but they play much tougher than their weight, especially Liu. Our forwards don't seem to have that toughness in them, and its been that way for years. Our forwards look like Tarzan but play like Jane.

Just heard on radio that W-T are on the verge of signing Wayne Bennett. What a coup if happens. Not sure if we even spoke to him and if not just proves how inept our management is. His appointment mightn't guarantee success but it'll guarantee more bums on seats, more sponsorship and better standard of play and better position on the ladder from our squad.
And we are left with BA!

I absolutely agree with this. You're much better off with posts like this than the other one.
I would love to get an experienced hooker, but not sure who's available - either on or off contract. I see Korisaou is off contract, and he is pretty decent, but we can't be paying through the nose for anyone who isn't a proper top tier player. I don't think we have any room for more middle forwards unfortunately. Paulo, Alvaro, Mannah, Brown, Terepo, Evans, plus Tepai and Ma'u who can play inside as well. Doesn't leave much room for anyone else. I'd say we will be looking for someone in this position for 2020.

We can't recruit a whole new team unfortunately. We will have to rely on quite a few of our remaining players to find some form, which isn't out of the question.
With an improved coaching staff (one with more help around the current staff) hopefully, we will see some of 2018's poorer performers return to the type of play that got us to the top 4 in 2017.
Its been reported in DT that we tried to get rid of Norman but couldn't, now its Moses but he gave up going overseas to watch a fight to have a fight closer to home. Pleaded his case to the club and already in training. But DT also stated that they have no money left under cap for more players, if so how typical is that! We were over the cap in 2013 & 2014 so how incompetent are we, apparently still haven't learnt anything from past history.

What if we were a 50% chance of winning either finals match? What if we were a 70% chance of winning? There would still be a chance we would lose both games. There are no guarantees. Just because you lose a game doesn't mean you were no chance of winning. If the refs hadn't bailed the Storm out in that second half we would've won the finals match in Melbourne.

Sometimes you're just unlucky. Look at the Storm's first half in the grand final. The Roosters had a bit of luck and ended up with all the ball. In a far more even second half the Storm scored the only try.
Fairly certain Keary had a hand in that try also.

I'd say we will be signing someone like Justin Holbrook for 2020. He's a former Eels 20s coach. Assisstant Coach at the Roosters and now head Coach at St Helens. Good fit and better than that cranky old merkin.

Stupid post. We have a dozen or more players off contract next year. They were all re-signed bc of our strong performances in 2016/17. You can't just make them magically disappear so you have cap space you know. Would you prefer that we name them on a whiteboard Ricky style and be left paying their wages elsewhere next year whilst we field a team of nuffies ?

Come on post it!!
