Our pack is not only light, it lacks leg speed. Mannah isn't getting any quicker, Evans runs like a praying mantis with dumbells wrapped around his ankles, and Alvaro although a very good worker, hardly dominates the opposition
Paulo, Terepo, Kaufusi and Utoikamanu all have footwork.

Agreed. I don’t know where you play him. I just reckon BA is desperate to punt one of our halves.

This wouldn't overly surprise me for Round 1 (assuming we sign Peachy):

1. Bevo
2. Fergo
3. Hayno
4. Gutho
5. Genno
6. Peacho
7. Normo
8. Paulo
9. Reedo
10. Alvaro
11. Lano
12. Man'o
13. Browno

14. Pritcho
15. Manno
16. Moerao
17. Evo

Are you seriously comparing an undersized Middle forward who played well above his weight his whole career to two halves who could get through games in a dinner suit and Smith the greatest player of his generation??? Wow!! Smith does a heap of work in the middle but the merkin rarely gets tackled with the ball.
Watmough didn't rely on brute strength to go forward. He was quick with great footwork, which is why he was able to play above his weight.

You don't reckon Menno is going to make our 17?

Yep the squad is looking very strong, we are looking pretty.

I can’t see why we aren’t almost the favourites for next season.

I really like our spine. So settled, the halves are a great combination and we have so much depth in the 9 spot. It should be very exciting.
Well we were among the favourites for this season. Must be because of our shit squad.

Technically no, but why didn’t we bother investing money in someone a little younger. 4 years for a 32 yo is an absolutely moronic decision.
Only if it hurts you in the long term.

Unless you're blaming Watmough for 2018 then it didn't hurt us. There were 24 other roster spots for investing in youngsters. In 2015 we had the following forwards under 22:

Alvaro
Moeroa
Pauli
Paulo
Pritchard

Plus only three players over 30:

De Gois
Fa'aoso
Watmough

Alright, I can agree with Titans and Knight probably.
But Roosters? Crighton's a good signing, but Morris is 130 years old, and Ryan Hall won't even play most of next year.

If the Eels were to sign two wingers, one 31 years old and the other 33 years old you would be throwing a hissy fit.
That's because he underestimates the importance of experience.

It'd be nice to get a 200 game veteran who was only 28 but those merkins cost a lot of money (like Ferguson). Even the Roosters don't have an unlimited sombrero. A 200 game veteran aged 32 (like Brett Morris or Watmough) is a fair bit cheaper.

It's easy to play that game when you're the Storm or Roosters.
We were languishing at the bottom of the ladder for a decade and needed some quality and experience.
Beggars can't be choosers.
Imagine how much a better player than Watmough would've cost us. At least we were paying him outside the cap (until the investigation) and got his first year heavily subsidised.
